My brain couldn't cope with linking all the links to get Lynx.

Some connection there if I am right, but Jaguar E-Type, Ecosse Tojiero, Ferrari and an F1 car (March, Tyrell?) beats me!

Are they all innovative in some way? Four wheel drive F1?

It is not the designer, engine, driver, make, or class. What else is left?

Good competition though.

Cheers,

Bob snr.

You are so close to being correct, in fact you have written of the answer being a driver. Have another look at the Indy car, it has a piston engine. The E type should really be a John Coombs car and the F1 car is a March 701. Just how many drivers did the Rover BRM have. You are so close!

I had completely forgotten that the car raced at Le Mans, three times, I only recalled the once, hence Ritchie. Google saved the day.

Yes indeed Max, its the aim of this club! But till now I found nobody able to bring proof that I'm clever!

The Eventer was a model based ont the XJS coupé but the modifications were more than aesthetics. Good info here:https://www.lynxeventer.com
You'll learn how a simple fuel tank fab can turn to a real headache!

I've worked on a handful of Lynx Eventers over the years. Best to describe them as 'an acquired taste' I reckon, but they do command pretty big prices these days.

Although, arguably a better looking car than the coupe they're based on?

My opinion but matter of taste I guess. As to asked price I'd say more than 150 k£, right? Very nice car, better looking than a XJ40 Estate imo.
Do you remember the simple conversion offered on a Renault 25/30 base, I'd say made by a belgian company? Just had to replace the hatch.

This one totally went under my radar! https://delessencedansmesveines.com/...cours-heuliez/

I was thinking the same but got beaten to it by going to bed!

Only doubt I had was did Southgate design the Osella FA1 though? I know he did pen later Osellas.(the FA1D Kelemata backed car) He did design the Arrows in the same pic though. Plus the BRM, Jaguar, Eagle, Embassy Hill Shadow, and Audi

I'm french. I was born during WWII. Done in secret by two engineers, even the CEO was not aware of this. Not mentioning germans in looking for occupation… Only three prototypes were made. The drawings were shown to a famous german engineer. The first color I had suggested a nice nickname. Few days before being launched I was declared outlaw…

Will, EB, an other usual suspects wake up!

Spot on Will! Well done. The first color was a strange beige coming from Africa Korps hence the "motte de beurre" -pat of butter- nickname.

Who was the german engineer supposed to be asked about the drawings? What could have make it an outlaw just before the production starts?

You do know the name of this engineer, Will…

Didn’t one of the Porsche clan review the design? Which I am sure peed off the Renault designers who were trying to distance themselves from the thought that this was their version of the People’s Car!

Yes Ferdinand himself was asked. Some talk about nine meetings but who can say for sure now? The last thing is that the headlamps height was not compliant with the regulations. Because it was too late to change the tooling they had this point of the regulation changed! If you spot a pic from the very first prototype, you can talk about "inspiration" with the other People's car…
