That's conjured up a lovely image, Andrew, thanks! I can see it and hear it, now!

For information:

William Alan (John) Jordan. November 1921 - April 1st 2006
Funeral Service takes place on Tuesday 11th April 2006 in St Swithun's Church, Sandy, at 2pm, followed by internment at Sandy, Cemetary.

No Flowers by request.
Donations if wished for Bedford Macillan Cancer Relief, may be sent to 3 Linden Road, Bedford, MK402DD.

There's a great tribute to John in the Biggleswade Chronicle, our local paper, detailing his love of aviation, including the 362 Spitfire deliveries that he made (nobody flew more than John in the UK!), and his motor racing achievements.

Rob.

My Dad regularly trots out the story of Johnnie Jordan flour bombing the pitlane at Silverstone.

Regarding the BRM which was run at Snetterton in an aurora round was driven by Teddy Pillette the Belgian? F5000 pilot.

It broke down early on between Riches and Sear, where i was a marshal.Having got out the car Pillette said i know whats wrong with it happens often and he could not be bothered to put the wire back on and left the car .

As was said by Andrew, Jordan bought the remains of stock from BRM.
As a Snetterton regular from the late 60's Jordans GT40 was a regular entry nealy allways winning except in the wet one day when just by a short head by Andrian Wlikins F2 Chevron.
