Been done, except it's called the "Lola-Millington" since the Millington people retuned the engine to make it more competitive in sportscars.

There are teams running the 2 liter Peugeot turbo, which isn't all that much different than the Citroen. No one has tried the Subaru motors as far as I'm aware. Same for the Skoda. I think someone tried the Mitsu motor, but no one currently as far as I know...

another choice might be the Hyundai WRC motor...

I'd like to see Hyundai build a LM750 class car next year around their WRC motor...

I think that the Subaru engine to go after will be the 3.5L twin turbo thatthey unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show under the hood of a sports super roadster they unveiled as a concept car...they also have a smaller V-6 that is the horizontally-opposed boxster style engine....

Not 100% sure but I heard the Millington engine has nothing to do with the current Focus WRC engine. It MAY be based on an older WRC engine used in the Escort.

From someone who should know regarding the possibility of Hyundai building a prototype using the WRC motor (I work as a consultant for Hyundai US and can't get any info out of them)

I'm sure you're right about the engine being based on older specification, but nonetheless it is WRC derived...I love hearing that car "giggle" as it downshifts.
