I was running around all afternoon, and just turned it on for the final lap. Amazing to see a seventh different winner in seven races this season!

Penske got it fixed but still.

The red flag seemed like a Nascar move to not end under caution. Don't agree, it should have just ended as is and if under yellow so be it.

7 races and 7 different winners to tie the record. And 4 first timers.

I liked it as a fan, don't like that it changed the result so drastically.

Also, what happened to pagenaud on the restart? Seemed like he was bad on all the restarts, but got better as a stint went on.

Simon got into it a little with Ed Jones at T3, then got snookered on the outside and got passed by a few folks from T4 to T5.

Looked like something may have bent or was losing a tire too. He was up and then contact with multiple cars but Ed Jones and he seemed to bang a couple time and he lost out with a couple wiggles after. And multiple others seemed to get off the corners faster and cleaner like he had a problem

I noticed that too, thinking he may have cut a tire during the brush with Ed but they cut away from the action and Simon only finished 3 spots behind Ed, so it couldn't have been too serious.

That was a bizarre race but I'm really pleased to see Marcus get his first win! It took a bit of luck, but he was first to cross the line. I've been a fan since he came over and wouldn't be surprised if this spurs him on to better finishes this year.

There's no race thread in sportscar forum, so I'll put these here. What's interesting to me about the pic of the ganassi prototype, is that this was in the paddock, where the cars were in line waiting to move out onto the pit lane and grid up. All the other cars had a crew member driving them up. Except Kevin magnussen was in the ganassi dpi talking to fans who came up to his open door. Heard another fan ask him what he looked better, sports cars or f1, and he gave a smile and said sports cars. Whether he was telling the truth or not, it was cool, and cool that he was driving up to the grid.

Non-recurrent mechanical fault? You could say unlikely to recur again, but why couch the issue in newspeak when you could simply state what the cause was?


I hope that the nondisclosure of the cause in the team's tweet doesn't mean that they are withholding information from other teams. I assume that IndyCar will look into it thoroughly.

Yeah, I read that this morning and was a bit bemused, especially as they also said:

the team has eliminated driver error or any issues related to Chevrolet systems and software, including involving the throttle system.

Initially it looked/sounded to me like the car had switched off, but that turned out to be a sync delay between the video and audio (audio was ahead of video by about 1.5s).

The wording from AMSP seems to me to imply something in their installation of the engine or electronics, hence the absolution of Chevy's involvement.

I hope we find out what it actually was.

Qualifying result Race 2

Josef Newgarden is on Pole, with a much quicker lap time of 01:14.1094, 114.156 Mph (183.716 Km/h), than Pole for Race 1. Yesterday's Pole sitter Pato O'Ward is down in 16th place and yesterday's race winner Marcus Ericsson, is 22nd. The luckless Will Power hasn't fared much better and is 20th on the grid.

I’m not sure many people would be too unhappy if he wasn’t able to race
