Ralt RT2/4
Can anyone help with information on the difference(s) between the RT2 and the RT4? I know the obvious ones like the RT2 was a 2 litre F2 car and the RT4 a 1600 Atlantic, what I would like to know is did the f2 car have a FG box and the RT4 a FT.? Also were there any differences regarding wheelbase and track dimensions ?
Appreciate any help from Ralt experts!!!! |

Hi TeeCee - not sure I'm an expert but I do own both an RT2 and an RT4 - and I do know that six RT2s were built (and where they are now) and not five as in the supposedly definitive book on Ralts.
The only basic difference between the two if built in the same year, as mine were, 1980, is that the RT2 fuel cell is 3-4" longer, hence the wheelbase is also 3-4" longer. Sorry I don't have the exact difference - I keep measuring it and keep forgetting it! Yes the powertrains were different as you surmised - Hart 2L/FGB vs BDD 1600/FT - but either could be installed in the other and has been over the years. Suspensions differed over the years with the later RT2s picking up the relevant years RT4 spec. Hope that helps. Search for the RT2 topic - lots of info there. |
