Brands Hatch 27th-28th September

The weekend of the 27th & 28th September sees the Formula 3 and GT guys return to Brands Hatch. The meeting is being held on the full Grand Prix circuit and so there is bound to be a shortage of marshals, especially on Saturday. If you haven't volunteered but would like to attend and lend your support, please let Pam Dearn know so she can add you to the list and get the tickets in the post at the earliest opportunity.

Pam can be contacted at pam.dearn@brdc.co.uk or 01327 320297

I have spoken to Pam this morning and she has had a few volunteers over the past week but is still DESPERATE for marshals for next Saturday. So, even if you are only able to do the one day, please give Pam a call and volunteer. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Having just got back from Brands Hatch, can I say a VERY BIG THANK YOU to all those who marshalled at Brands on Saturday, Sunday or both days. On a weekend when there were a lot of red flags, plenty of big hits, and fewer marshals than we would have liked, everyone pulled together and did an extremely professional job whether Observer, Flagger or Course/Fire/Incident (or - as many were - asked to perform above and outside of your normal grade). And, not forgetting rescue crews, medics, pits, paddock and startline.

As ever folks, you were just brilliant.

Thanks again :-)

Thanks Peter. The weekend was a little fraught at times but was still a memorable meeting.

For me it was great to meet up with MrV, BARbabe, Bella and Francesca.

Now, what about Louis Hamilton...Let me begin...

Dear Mr Denis,

After this weekend I wonder if you could see your way to popping a cheque in the post as my car would appear to need a few minor repairs.

Love,

Louis.

I was there Saturday and it was certainly hectic in the Manor garage as the boys rushed to replace the front left corner to try and get Lewis out again before the end of the session. Spanners flying everywhere! Even Lewis' father Anthony was mucking in. No doubt though, despite a fraught weekend, after his testing form Friday, Lewis will be a big threat in F3 in 2004.Head to head with young Piquet should be something to see.

I agree with your comments on young Mr Piquet, he looked mightily impressive winning both races on Sunday and he at least looks set for a bright future. Lewis didn't seem to have linked up with the car either Saturday or Sunday and had a couple of spins I believe. However, with the backing he has and his F Renault form, he too should go on to bigger and better things.

I was at Brands for both days and yes it was hectic, but I also felt that with all the incidents once again everyone got 'stuck in' to deal with incidents as quickly as possible which from my perspective was a testiment to the fantastic team spirit which exists amongst marshals.

To add to my personal thanks posted last night, Dave Scott (Event Director) has asked me to pass on his, and the BRDC's, very sincere thanks and good wishes to all
the marshals at Brands last weekend. He hopes that you all enjoyed the actioned packed event, and looks forward to working with you all again.

There is also good news regarding Lewis Hamilton, who was released from hospital this morning and is fine if a
little sore!
