Yet Ford drivers complain about the lack of top speed, because of the poor hatchback aerodynamics...

The new super CARX car was presented for the Argentine Rally Cross Championship.
The first model presented is a Peugeot 208 GTI.
The engine is a Ford V8 5.0 of 500 HP.

Well the Martos Ford's especially Moriatis, normally use a lot of drafting during qualy, but in the straights, they are visually slower, especially with the Cruze, that have/had a really strong top speed (may be BoPed now)

Turismo Carretera Concepcion del Uruguay final race results:

1 J. Castellano - Dodge
2 J.M Silva - Ford
3 G. Ponce de Leon - Ford
4 N. Fontana - Chevrolet
5 J. Di Palma - Torino
6 J. Gianini - Ford
7 J. M. Trucco - Dodge
8 G. Mazzacane - Chevrolet

Castellano leads the championship over Mazzacane by 27.5 Points and already has the mandatory victory to fight for the tittle
Dodge won for first time on the track, Chevrolet and Torino are the most succesful here, but only with 2 wins, Ford has 1 as Dodge now.
Talking about Ford, the new BoP is kinda controversial since the Qualifying was dominated by the Falcons, but on race it seemed balanced, except for the Castellano's Dodge, that was on another level, even with 20kg of ballast.

Got a picture? I'd google, but my Spanish is somewhere between terrible and non-existent and I don't think there's much English-language coverage of Argentinian motor racing.

2018 Ford Falcon:

That's not a Plymouth Superbird, but huge for Argentine standards.

Next weekend, the Super TC2000 will race at the Autódromo Jorge Ãngel Pena in San MartÃ*n (Mendoza).

As usual, there will be joker laps, where each driver can take a massive shortcut twice. New for this time, the first joker lap must be taken on laps 3-15.

The spoiler on the Fords went further back from 800mm to 850mm (a big increase), the front splitter from 60mm to 80mm and the overall height of the car reduced to a 477-482 mm from 480mm-485mm, while also increasing the minimun weight 2 kg to 1297 kg.

As for the "Joker Lap" failing to comply with the first lap on the alloted time, will result in the losing one of the "Jokers"

The Turismo Carretera is racing this weekend at the Autódromo Rosamonte in Posadas.

Rosamonte is a yerba mate company. Sponsor names were very unusual in South America, and this is a very early example.

As usual with me, never noticed that.
Now i'm thinking, and don't remember any other example, at least in Argentina.
Most are named for race drivers, Oscar y Juan Galvez, for example or, less common, take the name of the place, Autodromo Ciudad de Rafaela, one of the most famous.
Speaking of Rafaela, when will be a full oval race for the TC? There's always talk, but, it ends there sadly.

Argentina has some of the best tracks and the best thing about South American tracks is when they are named after drivers. Hope the series continues to entertain

I am surprised there's still so much development on these cars.

TC Posadas

TC Final Race Posadas, nice and fun race, kinda chaotic last laps
1- Ardusso (Yes, last week STC2000 Winner)- Torino
2- Lambiris - Ford
3- Trucco- Dodge
4- Angelini - Dodge
5- Catalan Magn i- Dodge
6- Rossi - Ford
7- Werner - Ford
8- Pernia - Torino
9- Ledesma - Chevrolet
10- Ortelli - Chevrolet

Castellano (Dodge), the championship leader arrived 16th, and with 181.5 points, mantains the lead over new 2nd Ardusso with 166 points and mandatory win (after this race), Trucco follows Ardusso, ten and half point behind (155.5 without win) and Mazzacane (Chevrolet) drops to 4th (151.5 points) after arriving 18th.
Best Ford: Lambiris, on 7th, with 131.5

Chevrolet kinda disapered this race (With exception of Canapino, who retired after an accident battling for 2nd), not the best track for them maybe.
Ford seems strong, capable of going for victory
Torino is as strong as last year it seems, especially the Renault Team, back with Garofalo engines.
Dodge had its best driver struggling with succes ballast but managed to put 3 drivers on top 5.
There is nice parity along the four makes now.

As of now, there is talk about the next evolution for the basic chassis (due in two years) with more enfasis in security, but with some cosmetic changes on debate (to make the cars more discernable between them). Said that, i doubt a big change in that last aspect.

In the more racing/performance aspect, the ACTC president said in an interview, that with more liberal rules (as there where in the past), especially in the engine department, wich is tightly controled, the cars could do 330 Km/h confortably.

A while ago I came across this Youtube video. I don't understand Spanish but think it's about future (aero) rules. The Torino they showed (around 15 minutes in the video) looks great. I assume there are plans to relaunch (or wishful thinking) the Torino brand?

About the "New Torino" is more wishfull thinking than anything, but one can dream.

As of the TC aesthetic, it is the direction where this seems to go, with the new pickups leading the way.
Then is the always present debate of how much of a given model remains in the race car, with the purist denosting the actual aero influenced design and current engine regulations, that "has nothing in common with the original cars", same people that have wet dreams with the Liebres, Huayras, Halcones, and Truenos naranjas of the past, which, where as much or more purpose built racing prototypes than the actual cars.

This Week:
The Turismo Nacional visits the Autodromo Parque Provincia de Neuquen, after 4 years. I'm currently watching the Class 2 races while waiting for the Class 3 Qualy, such fun races, i normally cant watch them, i'm surprised by the pace of the Toyota Etios and Nissan Marchs, being acustomed to see the battles between Clios, Corsas, Fiestas and Gols of the past years.

And, the strong dish of the weekend
Top Race on the amazing (and quite dangerous) Zonda Eduardo Copello of San Juan
