Entries For Le Mans 2009 (Speculation)

I know we already have a thread about Le Mans 2009, but this one is just about entries for the race.

In regards to the automatic invitations that are already known, who do people think will actually use their invitation?

My guess:

Team Peugeot Total (2nd LM 08)- Will enter the race
Audi Sport Team Joest (1st LMS 08) - Will enter the race
Team Peugeot Total (2nd LMS 08) - Will enter the race
Audi Sport North America 1st PLM 08) - Will enter the race
Intersport Racing (2nd ALMS 08) - Won't enter the race

LMP2

Team Essex (2nd LMS 08) - Won't enter the race
Penske Motorsports, Inc. (1st PLM 08) - Maybe

LMGT1

Aston Martin Racing (1st LM 08) - Will enter the race (if GT1 program keeps going)
Corvette Racing (2nd LM 08) - Will enter the race
Luc Alphand Aventures (1st LMS 08) - Will enter the race
Team Modena (2nd LMS 08) - Will enter the race
Corvette Racing (1st PLM) - Will enter the race
TBA for 2nd ALMS 08
Vitaphone Racing Team (1st FIA GT 08) - Maybe (With Strakka DBR9 Again ??)
Phoenix Carsport Racing (2nd FIA GT 08) - Maybe

LMGT2

Risi Competizione (1st LM 08) - Will enter the race
BMS Scuderia Italia (2nd LM 08) - Will enter the race
Virgo Motorsport (1st LMS 08) - Will enter the race
Team Felbermayr-Proton (2nd LMS 08) - Will enter the race
Risi Competizione (1st PLM) - Will enter the race
Flying Lizard Motorsports (1st ALMS 08) - Will enter the race
AF Corse (1st FIA GT 08) - Will enter the race
Pending for 2nd FIA GT 08

Other

Horag Racing (1st Michelin Energy Endurance Challenge) - Maybe

Also who do people think will try and get an entry for the race?

Do you think a Vantage GT2 will get an entry for GT2?

AMR? Drayson-Barwell? JWA?

I would think that was almost a definite. The ACO always likes a bit of variety Spyker, Panoz, even Zonda!) plus the car should be a lot more competitive next year, would love to see it out there!

Horag is the only team to continue with RS Spyder from this year and they don't race at Le Mans. Though West-Tec plans to buy Essex's car and race in LMS and LM.

Why not? They've got an entry via the Energy Challenge.

I could see Intersport attempting Le Mans again only because I'd think Richard Berry would want to do it, and he'd foot the bill.

Any word yet on what Aston Martin's works plans are? Are we another couple of years away from an LMP1 assault?

Hazarding a guess, I'd say that we'll see the DBR9's for the last time, as with the C6R, don't forget that they are have 2 wins each in the DBR9/C6R battle, so maybe a 5th and final decider???

I'm sure that there will be some sort of LMP1 entry, it is 50 years next year since the one and only overall Aston win!

Can anyone summarize the Toyota hybrid thread in a para without me having to read it all?

No one official will confirm or deny they have a plan to race one.

This sounds fairly official - although far from conclusive:

"Further rumours surfaced over the weekend following comments attributed to team boss Tadashi Yamashina about Toyota's potential interest in competing at Le Mans.

But a statement from the team rubbished the speculation ... [that Toy would pull out of F1] ... and said the Japanese squad still had ambitions to reach the top of the sport.

...

As for the Le Mans rumours, Toyota added: "Toyota has never hidden its interest in considering new motorsport opportunities, including Le Mans, currently no formal plan nor decision has been made on changes or additions to the current programmes."

Another question - did a decision ever get made about replacing GT2 with GT3?

I doubt it, the owners of the current DBR9 chassis, has been told before the 2008 race, that their services will no longer be needed.

So if raced, I guess that it will be either new cars or the LMP?

As in the privateers or prodrive? Surely the privateers will decide whether to race their own cars. Prodrive will surely be involved in either project - GT or LMP, no?

I think the cars prodrive raced this year had already been sold to collectors before the race finished.

So Prodrive will either have to build new cars or lease them back.

#007 was at Estoril for the Michelin Tyres Test.

So AMR/Prodrive still want to use the DBR9's by the looks of things, and if they weren't going to do Le Mans '09 (LMGT1) would they be doing testing?
