EDIT - In reference to Bauble's request for multiple referendums.

I think we should have them too. And again. And again.

And it's nothing to do with the fact that Mrs MM is a poll clerk

It's funny what these random rambles remind one about.

A warning to all in the Mojacar area. Be careful about drink driving as we are getting close to Christmas and police are out checking on people on the playa. Last night I was out for a few drinks and one thing led to another and I had a few too many cocktails 🍹 and then went on to wine. Not a good idea. Knowing I was over the limit I decided to leave my car on south beach and took a bus home, I passed the police check point, where they were pulling over drivers and performing breath tests, Because I was on the bus they just waved it past. I arrived home safely and no accident, which was a real surprise because I have never driven a bus before and I am not even sure where I got it from.

In actual fact I was pulled up in a cops breathalyser road block a while back along the Mojacar beach road at about 1am. The cop went to the left hand side of the car and asked Sue if she had been drinking alcohol and she replied yes loads ! The officer then realised that she didn't have a steering wheel in front of her and walked round to my side and asked me the same.
I said no and he waved me on I was amazed that he believed me and drove to our nearest bar at the bottom of our road for a nightcap
However I was telling the truth and the police are very strict on drink driving with just about zero limit in Spain (especially the Brits)

Soo... what’s bargains has anyone blagged on “Black Friday” ? Apart from delta’s fuel cap, that is!

All I managed was 5 litres of car shampoo. Not exactly exciting.......

I did make the mistake of attempting to navigate a section of Norwich inner ring road though. Jammed by shoppers desperately trying to get into the centre car parks. Just the sort of situation where I should have been using Waze (other community based nav apps are available).....

All I bought today was a headlight bulb. I did find my 'Legend of Xanadu' record though, so will have to buy something to play it on!

Did Delta find his fuel cap? Was it lurking with Bauble's shoes?

I remember when the Landcrab came out as I was working for and Austin/Morris agent, they were quite a good car and I remember we had a vet customer that used to thrash it round farm tracks and fields and thought it was the dogs do da's

It was an odd car, especially as an Automatic version, but certainly was an interesting thing to drive for the first few minutes until one acclimatised to the driving position, suspension and seats.

However, quite roomy so probably useful for transporting sick farm animals and similar.

It was an odd car but it was a long time ago and a surprise from BL or Mowog or Austin/Morris or whatever was flavour back then. I remember it used to handle pretty well on our test route that incorporated some unmade roads to find noises on cars. I seem to remember it had a large steering wheel on an offset column and about a hundred turns lock to lock
The vet often put animals in the back including a calf on more than one occasion

Including the same "plummy" voice over man that seemed to narrate just about all these types of documentaries, enjoy

They were amazingly strong and “torsionally rigid”, due in part to the massive “tubular” cills / sills under the door openings. We had a district nurse customer with an auto 1800, and one winter day she hit some black ice out in rural N Norfolk, went over a bank, straight though a hedge and dropped into a field several metres below road level. We got our wrecker to the car expecting the worst, only to find it virtually unmarked except for some hedge scars on the front! It drove back to the workshop perfectly..... Amazing sense of space inside with the minimalist dash layout, but mini angled steering column spoiled it. My favourite was the silky smooth 6cyl Wolseley 2200 version.

We also had a farmer customer that bought 2 Austin 3 litres, one for him and one for his son. They did pretty well considering the abuse they got. Considerably better than the 2 Mk4 Zodiacs they had! Seem to remember them in every other month for new front struts......

Never mind the engine bearings- the dampers were knackered by the end!

Did anyone stop to think that constant speed cruising for long distances was not the most arduous test they could subject the engine to?

Our local undertaker in Holt replaced his A105 Westminster with a black 3-Litre. His wife had delusions of grandeur & always rode very regally in the back but she didn't quite wave to the peasants!

I remember the salesman at the local dealer telling me how he had been on a tour of the factory & spotted 1800's on the line with Austin badges one end & Morris the other, so pointed it out to their guide. "Oh yes" was the reply. "Somebody runs a batch of 50 like that every now & then." Wonder if any ever escaped into the outside world?
