Steven Gray should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
How does the btc-touring qualifying work??

How do they know the times for the sprint and feature races???

Don't know if this will help???

This year’s BTCC will adopt a more conventional qualifying system after complaints from both teams and fans that the previous system was too complicated. Last year saw 2 separate sessions, one each for Touring and Production classes, with the top 2 times for the Touring teams setting the grid for the Sprint and Feature races, whilst Production teams recorded only a single fastest time which set the grid for both races. The revised format will see separate sessions for the Sprint and Feature race grid with both Touring and Production classes qualifying together.

The times from the first 20 mins of the session set the grid for round 1, then a 3 minute break, then the next 20 mins decides the grid for the feature race.
