Lydden 3rd May - a different concept
Lydden on Monday 3rd May promises to be something different.
SEMSEC have organised a full race meeting for the afternoon but in the morning will be a "track day". This is an interesting and forward looking idea. Take your car on track in the morning and stay for the racing in the afternoon. My friend has eagerly signed up for this. He will be running his Westfield in the "track day" sessions (warning! - the car is lime green!!) and is staying on to marshal. He tells me the morning sessions are excellent value! This is an interesting venture and one that I think deserves our support. |

Hi Gnomex
I take it you will be at Gail's first thing for a delicious brekkie roll? |

But of course UDB.
My friend with the Westfield has also got his mate with a classic Porsche RS interested as well - the more the merrier! |

From what I can geather, the BRSCC had a 2-day meeting and the "Track Day" was on the saturday after some race qualifying. Then in the afternoon, it was the Beetles/Uniroyal challenge. |

Be careful about signing-on, as you may not be covered by MSA regs / insurance during the 'track-day' element of the day. Check carefully with SEMSEC about when you're needed and that you're covered (see separate thread about assisting when you're not signed on / covered) Al. |

Thanks Al - I was going to raise that with SEMSEC in the morning when I arrive at the circuit.

Still not dried out from Monday yet. I really enjoyed my time on Post 5. Good to be on post with another ten-tenther too. Looking forward to next SEMSEC meeting, you never know they might let me put my orange romper suit on again.

UDB - it was a tadge wet in the afternoon wasn't it. As they say in football (what's that?), it was a "game of two halves" (really incisive comment that). The track day was bone dry, but it precipitated like hell in the afternoon.
I think I may have got two people hooked on the track day stuff. My friend in the lime green Westfield and his mate in the Porsche 911RSR were "over the moon" (how many football sayings can I get in?). They both stayed on in the afternoon, my friend marshalling with me for the second time, but neither was "as sick as a parrot" after the downpoor. |
