Black Drivers

the national and club lot got a thread about black drivers as did the F1 lot, so I thought it was rallyings turn.

question: why are there so few black drivers in motorsport. You dn't get anypoints for naming these three either!

Perhaps I am not that politically correct but I am not sure what "black" means as opposed to "coloured". I knew mehta was of Indian blood but he was brought up in Africa.
The picture is very small but I think one of them is Mo Bin Sulayem. He is an Arab. Is that black?

I am definately not racist just confused by labels.

is an arab black - I've no idea labels are silly things, though hen I posted the topic I was thinking of black meaning of Black african (including W. indies) roots.

Well, in scientific classification, Black is Negroid (and of pure blood) and Coloured is of mixed blood. Jesse Jackson once commented that there are actually few to no true Blacks (OR Whites) in the USA.

Personally I don't go around trying to figure out what colour the drivers are. I just want to see them race.

No, Arabs are classified as Caucasian. That goes for the Arabian penninsula, Turkey, the -istans the Soviets used to control, but of course not Pakistan, and the north coast of Africa, but there's always been a _lot_ of cultural and racial mixing in northern Africa.

I know why for me but its not a different reason to most of you, i'm hooked on the sport. More apt a question is perhaps, why not? what keep black people away from rallying, I don't believe that the interest aint there. But what do you lot think?

I do read the motorsport news occasionally. I spend a lot of time on oil rigs where it doesn't get delivered.
