What happened to Steve Ellery?

I was going thru a old Alpha magazine where they did a article with Triple 8 at Bathurst (the year Ellery got 3rd and Lowndes got the wheel), as I was reading I was wondering what happened to Mr Ellery?

Now, I think he's a top bloke, and reckon he go the short end of the stick at 888, and then with SCA after Indy.

What Im tryna say is does anyone know what he's up to now? CC maybe?

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Pretty sure he is driving Carrera Cup and will drive along side The Dude at Sandown & Bathurst.

Ellery has a pretty good track record at the mountain. I wouldn't count them out of a top 5 finish this year...

I would, based purely on the main driver.

I agree. I had a few bucks on these boys at Bathurst last year at crazy odds.
A podium would have paid hansomly.
Won't make that mistake again!!
I find Morris a bit of a loose unit (although kudos to the B12 hr drive in the BMW), whereas Ellery really lifts for the big events.

If some people followed motorsport instead of just V8 Supercars they might have an idea of who is driving what. You might even find it interesting.

IMO Ellery deserves a better co-driver, IMO the dude comes across as a arigant (spelling) and i think he thinks it's never his fault.

And this impacts his driving ability how?

Take out Mr Morris and you dont have a Team Sirromet, then Mr Ellery doesnt have a ride....

Steve Ellery is also running the Leopard Enduro at Bundaberg in July. Glen Seton is having another run in the enduro, fresh from his recent Over 40s Title win in Tag Light @ Coffs Harbour.

Thanks for that update mate. Is there a website where I can maybe get more info about the race that Glenn won? Anywhere I can get photos or a results sheet or race report? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

At this very moment, I believe Steve Ellery is in the pit area at the Darwin Karting Association track pit crewing for his 2 sons Dalton and Tristan, who are racing in this weekends NT Karting Championships.

Time is an issue for a lot of people. Unless the other catagories can do something extrordinary to gain my attention, V8 Supercars will be the catagory that gets my sole attention

It was disappointing when he left V8 Supercars. He closed the team with a view to bigger things at Triple 888, but it just didn't go that way. Is his family still loaded?

Me too.

Last year Ellery was faster in practice, qualifying and the race. He did more laps in the race, smiled and was available to people like fans and the media. Nor does he treat people like idiots.

SE deserves better.

Steve Ellery and Paul Morris are a formidable combination, Paul Morris has shown that he can drive anything competively be it an Aussie race car a BMW 12 hour car a Porsche cup car or a V8 supercar ,Steve is a great endurance racer and if they can put together a competitive car (and judging by the results at E.C. they are not far away)they will be a contender for the podium.

Kramer
I didnt see too many other full time offers for Mr Ellery in the main game... which is disappointing because it is clear that the driver has a lot of experience and has the ability to run consistently.

The next question might be when Mr Ellery comes off contract at PMM at season's end, and who decides to pick him up for either a full time or enduro-only gig....

Ellery definately was at the NT Karting Titles on the weekend spannering his two sons karts with his Dad Bruce and wife Kerrie and they did well. His eldest boy Dalton faught out for the win in Midgets all weekend and was there fighting in the final until a visible problem slowed him and he fell off the pace and finished 4th. His youngest Tristan started last in the final of the Midgets (Both in the same class) and was running 6th till eventually finishing in 8th.

He is obviously racing in CC and V8 at Sandown and Bathurst and is also doing the Leopard Enduro in Bunderberg, aswell as Seton and D'alberto.
Kartsport News.com is a great site for Karting news and will have some info on Seton's win a couple of weeks back and the Bundaberg kart club site will have info on the leopard enduro coming up. Also Kels Karts and Parts website will have info and entry listings for the enduro aswell.
