BBC to show Rockingham 500 - But once again the coverage won't be live

Just pick this up from Autosport.com

The BBC has committed to broadcasting the Rockingham 500 Champ Car race again this year on terrestrial TV, a day after the event takes place.

As with the inaugural race at the UK oval last season, BBC Grandstand will feature the event on the Sunday following the Saturday race, which is scheduled to take place on September 15.

A total of 14 track cameras, including two 'robocams' mounted on the inside walls, will be used to capture all the action.

Rockingham chief executive David Grace said: "CART and Rockingham are pledged to make one of the greatest spectacles in British motorsport as accessible as possible to the widest audience.

"We are delighted that sports fans up and down the country will be able to enjoy this access to the sport - and the BBC coverage will augment the existing coverage of the series on Sky Sports and Eurosport, to bring a great race to casual viewers and keen enthusiasts alike."

Would having the race live actually cause some people to stay home though? I always thought going to Cart and F1 races was 99.999% about the experience and not at all about the results...

well I can't afford to attend, so the TV coverage is good to have.
