Must say I am mildy surprised - but I am not surprised that it's another VE shape, as the Falcon and Toyota both seem to be the more expensive and or complicated builds.

So that's a total of 3 VEII, 2 Toyotas and 1 ford, is that correct?

6 is better than 5, so well done to all those concerned. Any idea of who may be driving it, or is it a replacement car for Bargs? (seeing as the Inky Tulloch VE is for sale)

he cannot for the life of him, work out why someone would want a Toyota bodyshell with a Toyota powerplant.... Ford with Ford etc, when you can have an ashtmatic Chevy that needs 120-ish cubes to make it go any good.

Comments from Haydn MacKenzie on this very forum over the trouble they had getting the engine to fit would indicate that Falcon Coyote with its wide top half is not as easy as an LS3 to squeeze in. If you like I can find MacKenzie's post. And yes, I believe his account.

As to the Toyota, nice car but engine an awful lot dearer than an LS3 for no performance advantage (as you aren't supposed to have any advantage anyway). So Commode is the logical choice, certainly would be for me if I was buying one.

Let me refresh your memory:
McKenzies supplied a test motor for the build
Car was built.
Race motor arrived, for some reason it had a taller manifold.
A small mod was needed to the engine mounts.
Problem solved.

I managed to find the post Rev, although it was Andrew not Haydn. Yes the engine did not fit and so modifications were required. Complications. Also they wanted to try the Toyota body but it meant changing the hoop. Build cost near $300k but only because of all the mucking around, otherwise nearer to $170k. Hasn't seemed to work for Haydn in any case but I probably wouldn't blame the car for that...

I think under $200k mate from memory only. ATM reckoned about $170k but that was last year. Toyota probably a bit more due to engine cost. A few thousand cheaper than an ST for a VE anyway but not a massive amount.

How has the Kiwi made gearbox been holding up, anyone know? Haven't heard of any major issues but am not close to anyone running a TLX.

After a change of material spec and less lightening the teeth are staying on

Yeah Inky mentioned to me that the box was holding up ok. They had some teething issues, with gear teeth funny enough, but apparently the guys at TT just put beefier gears in and no probs. I was also surprised as to how cheap Joe Bloggs could get one for. About 10-12k he reckons. That's attractive for people like myself who want to build a track car and wants to do away with the conventional H-Pattern. Flat shift was about another 2k I think. Not bad at all.

So from this we can assume that a turn-key TLX is around the 170k mark. Why is it then that the Tulloch VEII is selling for 185K? It is a second hand race car afterall.

And Icarus, I just had to laugh when you, of all people, get accused of trolling. Your probably one of the most sensible posters here for Chris'sakes
