Plus the race is in the US - which limits the extra expenses. And this way they can very conveniently 'satisfy' the ACO's demands and get extra miles under race conditions for the new car. But above all, it helps them with the BoP games in the ACO casino!

However, the series still isn't convinced about the value of other guest entries:

It's nothing new, they denied entry from Riley Viper 5 years ago at COTA as well for no reason

Both Ginettas have been withdrawn from COTA for yet to be specified reasons.

Also, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller are reportedly getting called up by Corvette Racing for COTA. This after Magnussen left the team as a fully-fledged factory driver at the end of last season in IMSA and Rockenfeller wasn't expected to run for Corvette Racing this year due to Audi Sport DTM commitments.

Getting my conspiracy hat on... Ginetta sits out cota and gets no negative bop so it can be easily be faster than the others at Sebring, which pays out more points

Can you get bop changes by not running?
Dcs reporting the team was planning on chassis refeshes after interlagos, but won't have time now with cota. First time cars have been back to factory since start of season. |

Well you couldn't gain more success handicap but should a skipped round count? I think it should be exactly what you would have run the round you skipped. No loss but no gain either. But I have not read the rules at all for that bit. And you could end up being the reference car that everyone is penalized against to set the success handicap.

No changes for them but potentially changes (for the worse) for their competitors.

Corvette Racing also confirm Mags and Rocky for Sebring 1000 WEC event.

It’s about time this championship was put out of it’s misery, can anyone sit here and defend this nonsense? https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...ota-handicaps/

As much as I hate to say this (trying to avoid gloom and doom), but the ACO and FIA made this bed by their go big or go home attitude with hybrid tech and EOT, and now they're reaping what they sowed. Such absurdity resulted from the usually inevitable factory implosion and shafting the privateers for years. |

No, it's the fault of modern sportscar racing as a whole, the evolution which started around 15 years ago and has finally culminated here, in everybody giving up for the laziest of solutions to get short term profits. |

How ridiculous is to see both Toyota's running with different levels of penalties?
The only genuine fight is being eliminated with this. |

Since 365 and Motorsport.com want to be silly as usual, while obviously the Toyotas have taken more handicap than Bahrain, compared to Shanghai the Rebellion is lighter but the #8 Toyota has more power and the theoretical success handicap difference between the two is smaller. The #7 is pretty SoL though, that one is the biggest delta between any Toyota and Rebellion so far this season.

My "conspiracy theory" was wrong too. It seems had Ginetta ran this race they would have had no success penalties because of the difference in points.
