Throttle sensor problems ?

ok please forgive my complete lack of technical knowlegde here , but during the V8 race today Jason Bargwanna suffered what the team believed to be a throttle sensor problem.

what does this mean ????

to me and I am in no way a tech wiz or anything does this mean that V8's are using Fly-by-wire technology where instead of a cable they use sensors ????

if so when did this start happening ???

if not then what exactly does this mean for us dumbo's who dont have a clue ??

Morris 1100 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The throttle sensor tells the computer the position of the throttle.
It goes like this: FOOT > PEDAL > CABLE > THROTTLES (Slide throttles) > POSITION SENSOR > COMPUTER > AMOUNT OF FUEL INJECTED!

This is a simplified version but you should get the point!
It does not mean that you have FLY BY WIRE except that the throttle cable is a kind of WIRE

The TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is placed on of the throttle bodies or throttle slides to give the percentage of throttle to the computer, which inturn with a number of other sensors controls fuel etc............

TPS has been around for ages the first Holdens to have them where VK Fuel Injected and the XE Falcons very old technolgy................
