Charlie Whiting Interviews
Stephane Samson's F1 Racing had conduct interesting interview with Charlie Whiting. F1 Racing has in their latest (April) edition, and The FIA has the full interview on its website.

Thanks Zepp, I had always wondered if Charlie was the same curly haired guy who used to spanner on his brother Nick's yellow Ford Escort BDA in Super saloon racing in the mid 70's?...Now I know it was!...I was a spanner man on a rivals car. (Driver/car combo to beat was usually Gerry Marshalls works DTV Vauxhalls)
Would like the chance to talk about that period with Charlie, but he lives up in the Gods now! |

I didn't realise Charlie was Nick's brother! Hey Rennen, I used to watch Nick and Gerry racing at Brands in those days. Nick's Escort against Baby Bertha, what fabulous racing it was too! It must have been about then that the Kent Messenger Imps were racing?

It's interesting to hear what he said about Ron and Williams' constant attempt to complain about Ferrari. At least this gives those critics a fairer view than always thinking that only Ferrari protests about their rivals.
