Aston Martin will be represented at next year’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour following the confirmation of R-Motorsport’s return to the event.

The Swiss squad is the first team to lodge an entry for the Mount Panorama endurance race held from January 31-February 3.

R-Motorsport will enter two 2018 specification Vantage GT3s to contest the top Class A with one set to join the professional class and the other earmarked for Pro/Am or the Am division.

Thanks for the details.

I still don't see an issue should Ford or Honda not enter cars in the event. Indycar drivers are continually jumping in different cars and series. The Daytona 24 a prime example.

The vagueness of the last paragraph hints at a potential contractual conflict, both the other teams he races for are under Ganassi.

The lap record as displayed on the Bathurst ‘totem pole’

Christopher Mies has set a new Mount Panorama outright lap record of under two minutes in an unrestricted Audi R8 GT3.

The German ace clocked a 1:59.2910s during the Supersprint component of the Challenge Bathurst event, which Jamec Pem Racing and a host of other teams were using as a test ahead of February’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

Wow those two STM cars are going to be hard to beat!

And the Bentley sounded awesome. Can't wait for this, but I am always bloody travelling to Europe when it is on. I watched quali I think in London this year.

Yes.

Neither have been officially announced but Sportscar365 made the AF Corse entry public in one of their weekend notebooks. Pro Am car with Paul Dalla Lana/?/? Quite possibly Lauda and Lamy as has happened before outside of WEC.

Other entry is supposedly an Asian team with a full pro lineup

I’m curious how Mclaren, Aston Martin May approach this race either decide on running the full IGTC, which Mclaren have made clear is in their plan, and I know Aston we’re debating it.

Both have new cars which aren’t eligible for this race, meaning they’d need to run old cars here then move onto new cars for the rest of the IGTC.

Wonder if they would go there, especially Mclaren with their tough relationship with the old car

McLaren will probably partner up with McElrea Racing so at a guess they'll have a Pro 650s run by them alongside the Pro Am Objective 650S which has already made public.

Aston Martin are planned to be represented by R Motorsport with the 'old' car. At least one car in Pro.
