I know Oak's main goal for the American series this year was to essentially market their cars - especially the coupe later on - for possible customers, but surely the final result leaves them dissatisfied. Mainly to do with crappy BoP for sure but they could've have a chance at PLM. IMO they should've entered two cars, and if the second coupe really was not available then drag in the old open top. If they can field the old Oak Pescarolo with rent-drivers for throwaway WEC events "just because" then they could've done the same for Petit. Doubling chances is always wise for such accident-prone traffic density events as we saw again.
Anyway regarding next year's plans, this is one of the rare non-(essentially-)works teams in ACO paddocks that really doesn't have to worry about getting Le Mans entries for the following year, they'll get them whatever they decide to do in the world and/or regional series, full or partial... the inevitable AsLMS win gives them one automatic as well Last edited by Deleted; 7 Oct 2014 at 22:14. |

The oak team was let down by their Hpd engine a couple of times last week, both in practice and the race. Going a couple laps down early caused them to be aggressive and that ultimately led to the end of their race.

The issue during the race was a gearbox issue I think, not an engine problem.

Yes but if a cac tube tears or a clamp loosens or breaks,it's not really an engine issue.to me from the pit cam during the broad cast it looked like they were searching for a boost leak.

And the qualifying issue was identified as being stuck in second gear, I believe.

So last year, Oak retired the last remaining "Oak Racing" entity they had going and the intention seemed to be to concentrate fully on supplying. Even though they still run the satellite G-Drive cars in WEC (now ditched them for 2016 and running ESM).
But then last November theyt said they either want to run in US 2017 under their own banner or have the stillborn LMP1 developed. At the same breath they also said racing operations will not be ceased at any cost. Now today, we have two Oak Racing titled LMP3s on the ELMS entry list, and Oak Racing LMP2 on Le Mans reserve list. They really can't make up their minds on the issue |
