kerbs hand drawn
hey folks, kinda vanished for a bit there, but im back.
I had another thread that was less than successful and have given up on paint and sketch up. so, as the title implies, there will be hand drawn designs here. unfortunately, access to a scanner isn't possible just yet, so youll have to settle for photos for now. |

and so, here is track 1 in this new thread. running anti clockwise, I used a scale of 1cm=50m. the start/finish straight on bottom of the track is 18cm long

It very much reminds me of the type of angular designs that I used to do before I started using Sketch-up.
The area around T4 looks a little congested, I can't see enough detail of that area to judge whether there is enough run off. Nice work all the same |

You have chosen a nice color scheme. The track has got enough straights with tight corners at their end to provide overtaking. But it is very stop-and-go due to a rather high number of sharp corners with a small radius. I guess it is this type of character that you were going for. I think you have achieved that a driver can get into a rhythm easily in spite of this. Bureau Tilke would be proud if they had come up with the design. It could be quite good, given undulating terrain in the right places. Yet, drivers would probably still complain about the many tight corners.
Thank you for this interesting study in track character. I like it when a track does not have "a bit of everything" but a distinct character instead. Last edited by Yannick; 3 May 2016 at 09:09. |

thanks to all for your feedback, I shall now reveal track 2.
using the same 1cm=50m scale, the straight at the very bottom is 15cm, or around 750m |

ok, a little disappointed by lack of response, but anyway, moving on
track 3 is another track using the 1cm=50m scale, the start/finish straight is 11cm, or 550m |

and yes, I am aware of the error involving pit in and the outside sweeper, competitors will have to negotiate the chicane to enter pit lane

track 4 on the other hand is one of the shortest non karting track in my collection, using a scale of 1cm=25m, giving the S/F straight a length of 11cm(275m). I have divided the track into 3 sectors, sector 1 ending between 4&5, sector 2 ending just after 7, with sector 3 completing the lap

I've taken one of your designs and imported it into SKetchup
The reason for doing this is to help you understand your scaling better. For length the track measures out at 5.356km which is not bad at all. However as you'll notice I've narrowed your track down by about half. Your track was about 28m wide pretty much everywhere, and wider still in bits. In Sketchup I usually do my circuit 14.5m wide, and so that's what I've shown on yours. This also shows the pitlane sizes. I know you made comment about an error in the pits, I've taken what I thought you meant to have a direct access from after the chicane. The point being that the pitlane itself needs only to be 2 cars wide, so around 4m is what I use. As I've posted before, these aren't bad designs, don't be disheartened by a lack of response. My Tracks isn't getting a lot of traffic at the moment, but keep putting designs up they are being looked at. |

ok, I should probably point out before I release any more is that the scale only affects the length of a circuit, not the width, thanks for bringing that to my attention SBF

track 5 is actually a part of a bus route that I saw and drew up
its scale is 1cm=25m, with the front straight being 10cm, or 250m |

sorry for the gap between tracks 6 & 7, but here is track 7. may be better for bikes than cars, but should be functional for both. runs counter clockwise. scale is 1cm=50m, with the s/f straight being 11cm (550m)

track 8 is a set of streets modified into a figure 8 circuit. ive measured it out by driving around it and it comes to a length of 6.2km, but may be shorter when the roundabouts are taken out of the equation. the north start/finish line will be the main s/f point on the combined circuit. the north section will be clockwise, and is quite hilly.

ok, releasing a few today, starting with track 9
a fairly short one, with a scale of 1cm=25m, the front straight being 13cm (325m), runs anti clockwise. |

track 10 has a north and south variant that can be run at the same time. scale is 1cm=40m, with the southern front straight being 10cm (400m), the gap between the north and south circuit is about 50m, which could be an issue now that I think about it. both run anticlockwise.

the third and final circuit is, you guessed it, track 11. more of a top end speed kind of circuit with 5 straights over 400m. with a scale of 1cm=40m, the front straight is 17cm (680m). like the other circuits today, this one runs anti clockwise.

track 12-19 are old designs, I think 4-8 years ago when I was 11-15, that I polished up added run off and better pit ins and outs to. I'll release these at different intervals while I go through other oldies to polish up so I don't run out of content

track 12 really came from a vision of turns 2-4 being steep downhill and I kind of grew the circuit around that section. the front straight is 500m long and it runs clockwise.
