Not sure if that is going to happen from me...It would be stunning to see someone race one of these again, but they are getting a bit scarce...

Not in Super Road Saloons or Mod Prods Lee - you need to look for Formula Saloons, SEMSEC Sports & Saloons, and BARC-SE Saloons (DMN).

Thanks for the vids Denis. Shame about the quality as you say, but I managed to pick out me in the ol' Nova at Cadwell, Silverstone, and Thruxton. If I hadn't been taken out on the first lap and left with bent suspension/steering, I reckon I could have done well there - I was quicker than you in qualifying if I remember....
Silverstone ended in the Brooklands kitty litter (ran out of talent under braking!), Cadwell wasn't too bad - lost a lot of time behind the Civic and then the Saxo.

Doug Anderson left srs to race in modprods in his Mass engine 205 a very successful racer Doug then moved into northern saloons again being a front runner competing until mid 2000s doug retired and went back to making Kilts. We gatecrashed his motorhome at Cadwell once hoping for a good drink but he was in his pajarmas and told us to **** off . it was 10 o clock his car was sold and is still raced by David Cox

David, Jack said he needs taking for a walk, can you come down and take him down the park!!

You ratbag waking up Doug like that. Reminds me of some of the "party" antics we had a Snetterton one evening. Brian Rowan's (white Fiesta) missus got hacked off with the noise from the Matt Edwards entourage and had told Brian to pack up they were going. And he did. Poor ol' boy.

Ooo thems were the days!

Some of the Eurocar meetings we supported were terrible!!! (in a rowdy sort of way!).

Is this the same David Cox that sometimes races David Bell's Minicross car in Rallycross ?

As the discussion on the Falken ModProd thread at the moment is Lotus Sunbeams and many cars/drivers mentioned raced in SRS, thought I would dig out some pics and post on here.

All from 1993.....
Jonathan Woodward, Neil hasler, Eric Crawley at the bottom of the mountain

Eric Crawley, Me & Simon Gent, Mallory

Remember this race well at Snet, me vs. 4 Sunbeams (Phil Seaman not in pic), they kept getting past, then I would pass them all again down the Revett Straight to re-take the lead each time, in the end they wore me down like a pack of Hyena's

Jonathan playing on the beach

Don't remember this one, was it a one off outing, Derek Hastings

Phil Seaman & Mark Wyatt, Donington

Derek Hastings appeared in Scottish saloons with his Lotus Sunbeam.
One of several cars which he has competed in since the mid-1980s,
on which he would use number plates of his 'Zippo' racing team, at events.
He currently contests Scottish Classics in a Porsche 928.

I like the photos, much better then mine. I have found a few possibly they are SRS so I need to upload them.

How do you do it ?
I found photos of Jon Woodward and I think Eric Crawley and Mark Wyatt, even Neil Hasler now I remember the green stripe.

Don't remember Phil Seaman's green car though

I also found a photo of a Mk1 and Mk2 Fiesta, I think the Mk1 might be Andy Pyke and the Mk2 Tim Watson. Talking about Mk1 Fiestas does anyone remember a blue Mk1 1300 driven by Andy Belcher or a white Mk1 1600 driven by Roger Parry ?

Sarnie I'm sure I have a photo of the Capri somewhere.

Yes, I remember Andy Belcher and Roger Parry's cars. I seem to remember Roger's being red, but I could be mistooken. I'll have to dig out my photo album.

Andy Pyke's was white, as was Tim Watson's. Tim's number was (and still is!) 62. Andy was 70, or was it 71, he shared the car with Phil Wright from time to time.

Al - there was a later recommendation that the plates were removed during racing, then some time after that, when we were allowed trailers, 92 seems to come to mind, the cars had to be "MoT-able", but didn't need to be taxed, etc.. just registered. It came in when the MoT regulations tightened up on emissions, because the rules allowed us carte blanche internally on the engines, it was deemed that cars then may not pass the MoT test, but would still meet the regs.
At the end, the cars were closer to ModProd spec than they were road saloons, the main difference being the interior fire hazard (trim).

Could you find the photos I'd be interested to see them. I used to have a Mk1 Supersport I used for Track days.

The only Mk1 Fiesta I know racing is the ex-Hugh Poston now with Neil Bray racing in Group1 saloons. I think the car was a 1600 and is now a 1300cc, I'm sure Al can confirm.

Yes Neil is racing a 1300 but we have another one but he only made a brief appearance this year and lunched the engine. He was regular the previous year.

I've found there were two other Fiestas that raced Group1 back in the day. Graham Fermor which was yellow 1300cc and Mark Astrup in a blue 1600cc Fiesta.

Could Graham's be the same one that Hugh Poston raced as this was also yellow, but I thought was a 1600cc. If it is then the cars been full circle as Al confirmed Neil Bray is racing a 1300cc again. Whereas Mark's car appeared a year later as a 1300cc aswell.

Damn I should have converted the old Supersport.

Back on SRS I'm am right in saying Roger Parry's Fiesta went to Ian Sturt ?

The 1300cc class is sitting there waiting to happen, I think it could soon be very popular with the current fuel prices! Just looked it up its Brian Goodwin that also races the 1300 Fiesta with us in Classic Group 1.

I thought Fermor's was an XR2, as he had raced in the Fiesta challenge before road saloons?

I think you are right as I thought Graham's car was an 1600 XR2 aswell, but the program said a 1300cc. So who knows ? I know it was yellow anyway.

I would still like to know if the Fermor/Poston/Bray is the same car.

I remember those 2 Rob, I also thought at the time they seemed to have all the kit, here's one of them visiting Quarry oops.....

I've had many good races with various LT's over the years....

Though not always, after I led from the start at Mallory without being challenged, into the hairpin on the last lap and bang, Simon Orr got fined and a licence endorsement but amazingly was allowed to keep the win !!!

These 2 are my favorite pics though

That should be enough to be going on with.

Hi Simon/All,
just found this thread and spent 2 hours going thru from 2006!
Your pics have brought back memories, I (Simon Orr) drove the #5 white/purple Lancer which we had the spat at Mallory, did SRS from 91 - 94 when money and time allowed, great fun and a great crowd.
Fun racing the all the Sunbeams, Simon Light's Capri and Steve and Wes Moores Saab's.
Started with jeff Robinson (great bloke) at Riverside Racing in one of his black Lancers then he built a special one for me from the ground up that started of white and ended up with a purple front end (great car, poor driver!) Wheres the car now? Sold it to some guy in a service area near Cheltenham! dont even know if it raced again?

Cheers
Simon Orr

PS - Simon - Just got a B_ll_cking, not even a fine or an endorsement. Must have been because Im I nice bloke!

Would be good to see your pics of my Capri or any of the SRS cars.
I just load them in Photobucket then paste the link into the message.

All good fun, although I remember being a little miffed at the time

Ah that was Nigel Gray (series co-ordinator) who told me that after the race.

Just uploaded this SRS race from Donington GP 1992, shows how close the racing was with some very evenly matched cars.....

Cheers, hopefully get some more up as & when.

I also had red paint on the bumper at Coombe, not funny as I then visited the marshalls post sideways at speed (luckily l/h side), still that was a long time ago
I hear Mostyn has dragged the Firenza out of the barn?
I'm hoping to be out later in the year in Classic Thunder.
