Your fantasy A1GP circuits
As its a new series, with potentially the same spectacle as F1 cars, I was wondering which circuits you'd like to see it on.
The Brands GP circuit would be great, as would Spa. Bathurst for the Australian round as well. Anyone care to add their own? |

luke has hit the nail on the head. Most of the circuits have to be somewhere hot during the 'winter' break. Knockhill isn't really on then.

With you all on the Brands idea. I'd also love to see races around Laguna Seca and Rio.

It's not really a great idea for a racetrack is it?
Sure, there are roads and a few nice stadiums and centres.....but what else has it got other than another stretch of tarmac? I was going to remind people to ditch the Bathurst idea as well - as the cars couldn't handle the circuit, nor could the licence......but this is fantasy isn't it? |

Alrite, well a few circuits are already decided (If the A1GP site is true about there being races in Dubai, Turkey, Qatar and Bahrain, altho they havent been confirmed yet), id like a race in the states- Laguna Seca in April maybe.
AUS- Adelaide, Surfers, Albert Park or maybe Philip Island (now im dreaming) CHINA- Shanghai would ahve to be the circuit used RSA- Kyalami Spa would be nice aswell |

It is likely that the China round will be at Beijing's extended Golden Port circuit. The circuit will have A1GP in March/April and Champcar in Sept/Oct.

The circuits will probably have to be permanent circuits, good for TV production, easy to cover on TV and not too long or too short, to create the right impression on the small screen.
that rules out most of our fantasy circuits, because most of us would choose road circuits or street circuits that are spectacular rather than the boring FIA F1 circuits. However throwing all that aside... These are ones that sit in the Middle east or on the Pacific rim and would be good during the off season. Australia. Bathhurst, Phillip Island, Adelaide street circuit. Most likely? Eastern Creek or some street circuit in Western Australia. Asia? Johor, Aida, Shanghai, Fuji or the one in the Northern Island of Japan where the Superbikes run. Most likely: Shanghai Toyota's Mt Fuji, and Honda'a Motegi... Macau is just not suitable. Europe. Look for circuits where F1 does not run. Like Mugello, Brno, A1ring -if it gets rebuilt- Brands Hatch, Donnington, Estoril, Jerez, Valencia, Misano, Le Mans (bike track). |

From memory Bathurst isnt licensed for open wheel cars faster than Formula Ford due to the elevation changes.

Would be great to see Le Mans Bugatti, and also Mexico City, Adelaide, Fuji or Aida (can't remember the latter's new name), in Britain I think Brands is spot on - Silverstone already has F1, and Donington won't be suitable until they get the new pits/paddock comploex.
Can't remember the Chinese circuit which was supposed to make F1 in '98, but sod it, I'll choose that one lol. Also try Kyalami, Buenos Aires, Estoril, Dijon.... and hows about the Nordschleife for fantasy! |

For a US circuit what about Road America or Indy ( the oval). To be a true test of a drivers skill you need a mixture of road courses, street courses and ovals. For Japan they could use Twin Ring Motegi, Germany Euro Speedway. There is one British circuit that no one has mentioned and that is Rockingham
