Entry list:
http://www.indycar.com/news/2009/kan...st_4-21-09.pdf We lose Tags in the Conquest and gain Sarah Fisher. Helio replaces Power and the second Dreyer & Reinbold car has TBA for a driver still, hopefully it's not Milk & Doughnuts. |

I'll say it another way, and eat crow if I'm wrong. If Roger Penske doesn't put the driver who is second in the points standings in a car, he's an idiot. And Roger Penske is no idiot.

^ Sir, I hope you are correct! Even if they miss Kansas surely he should be in that car for the rest of the season.

I spent a season with Miss Kansas once, in spite of my willpower. My ex-wife was madder than a driver without a seat.

Well Practice Session 1 is complete at Kansas. Danica did her usual on the ovals and that is run fast. She was 5th quickest. A good run for Sarah Fisher at 9th quickest. Scott Dixon was the fastest.

Franchitti and Castroneves thrown to the back for going below the white line
Didn't see it personally but I guess only fair if they did. Congrats to NHL anyhow. |

Shouldn't be too much of a problem for Helio and Dario. Just got to take care early on.

Newman Haas Lanigan really suprised all of us. Superb job by Rahal but by Doornbos as well. Not bad for an Oval-rookie.
Danica runs well again but I am really suprised with Miss Duno. Look who she is beating. guys like Wilson, Mutoh, Meira and Matos. Superb effort by her. Same goes for Fisher. I really hope the tie-up with Forsythe happens. It should really strengthen her team. And let's be fair, this woman deserves some good fortune. and last but not least... Stanton Barret showed that, on ovals at least he deserves his place in the Indycar series. |

I remember Michigan 07, took Franchitti about 9-10 laps to go from last to first after a botched pitstop. Quote:

Well Dario Franchitti and Helio Castroneves had good qualifying times but both were penalized for driving below the white line during qualifications. So they have to start at the back of the field. That is bad for them. This moved Danica up to P3, inside row 2.
Here is the starting grid.. 1. #02 Graham Rahal 2. #06 Robert Doornbos 3. #7 Danica Patrick 4. #9 Scott Dixon 5. #26 Marco Andretti 6. #5 Mario Moraes 7. #6 Ryan Briscoe 8. #11 Tony Kanaan 9. #4 Dan Wheldon 10. #20 Ed Carpenter 11. #67 Sarah Fisher 12. #23 Milka Duno 13. #27 Hideki Mutoh 14. #14 Vitor Meira 15. #2 Raphael Matos 16. #24 Mike Conway 17. #18 Justin Wilson 18. #13 EJ Viso 19. #98 Stanton Barrett 20. #21 Ryan Hunter-Reay 21. #10 Dario Franchitti 22. #3 Helio Castroneves |

Crow samich for me
Well, no Will Power. I can't believe it.
Good for Barnhardt for not letting the rules get loose. It will be fun watching the "reverse qualifiers" getting through traffic. Who wins the cat fight, Milka Dunno or Ashley Judd? WAY TO GO SARAH!!!! |

Never saw the replay for Franchitti, but for Castroneves it was very obvious. His left front wheel was completely over the line. Even he should have seen and realised this.

I was at the Chicagoland race last year and Helio did the same thing there. I figured he would of learned from that.

Danica had a great day today, finishing 5th. I look for good things this year and at the Indy 500.
And what a comeback for Helio Castroneves. Starts at the back of the field, has a small mishap with Vitor and had to pit to replace the nose of his car and finishes 2nd. Great job. Here are the final results.. 1. #9 Scott Dixon 2. #3 Helio Castroneves 3. #11 Tony Kanaan 4. #6 Ryan Briscoe 5. #7 Danica Patrick 6. #26 Marco Andretti 7. #02 Graham Rahal 8. #27 Hideki Mutoh 9. #20 Ed Carpenter 10. #4 Dan Wheldon 11. #5 Mario Moraes 12. #06 Robert Doornbos 13. #67 Sarah Fisher 14. #18 Justin Wilson 15. #21 Ryan Hunter-Reay 16. #23 Milka Duno 17. #98 Stanton Barrett 18. #10 Dario Franchitti 19. #24 Mike Conway 20. #2 Raphael Matos 21. #13 EJ Viso 22. #14 Vitor Meira |

Danica fan, question for you. First let me say I think Ms. Patrick is looking very capable and has good equipment. Her car's not bad either.
Seriously, every Indy car fan and driver owes her a debt of thanks: most people in the U.S are completely oblivious to IRL, and Danica's continued success is helping to keep the series on the map. I didn't get to watch the race closely today, but I saw that she was on pace (again) midway through the event. When looking at the final results, Danica finished fifth to three competitors she outqualified, and Helio started from the back (twice) to finish in second. Was there a problem with her stops, or is her team focusing too much on qualifying and not enough on race setup? Attendance looked lousy, although I heared Jenkins say that tornadoes had hit the area on Saturday. Still, I thought this forum was worldwide... and you could hear a pin drop in here over the distant whine of 22 identical Honda engines. Let's hope for a very safe, and a very competitive month of May. |

Since I have missed live coverage of the race, can anyone give a short discription how Doornbos performed in his first oval race?
