Favourite f1 car of the modern era

Favourite f1 car of the modern era

What is you favourite f1 car?

Mine is the Jordan 91 of the 1991 season. The car looked fantastic, pulled of the coupe of taking the battle to Benetton which had the same engine.

Also the Jordan of the 1998 season was a beautiful car.

yeah, the 1999 Minardi was a great looking car, classy blue-grey livery and a sleek design! Gustav Brunners finest I'd say.

Don't know 'bout the 98 Arrows though...
brrrrrrrrrr

I like the 95 Benetton in AL Racing's pic a very nice car.

Arrows did a nice job on its 98 car. It must have been a hell of a job to convince the sponsors to drop their colour schemes. Also a good point for the arrows was they built their own engine.

I liked the 91 Jordan ..very nice...and the 94 simtek and 94 pacific looked great ..just didnt go very well...the 95 Arrows was nice and i like this years minardi..kinda reminds me of an AGS from the late 80's which looked really cool.

95 ferrari was excellent ..but the best is definately the 1990 ferrari ..now that was a fine looking piece of kit

Nah, they didn't build it actually, it was built by Brian Hart. They bought the engine and labeled it Arrows, the same way Yamaha did the year before with the Hart engine.

No, he continued building their 1999 engine too.

I agree, it was the best chassis that year. John Barnard really slumped after that jewel. Remember the Ferrari F310 he designed in '96, it looked awfull, slow as tank, and Schuey and Irvine had to tilt their heads not to be in the way of the air-intake above (or rather behind) their heads!!

When a designer doesn't even consider the drivers size, it's time to start looking for a replacement...

I have to say the Benneton B192 from 1992 and the Ferrari from 1995.For a less succesfull car id have to say the MTV Simtek cars from 1994 were nice to look at (even thought you didnt get to see them to often!!)

jonboyG has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I think the '93 and '94 Williams. They had the swoopy downturned noses, and looked perfect.

I have to admit the 1995 Ferrari was a beautiful machine and the last of the 'classic' cars, in that it had the downturned nose. (By that I mean the end of the nose was attached to the front aerofoil, unlike all the cars on today's gird, who have 'high' noses.)

Others I have admired are the 1991 Jordan (who hasn't?!?!), the West McLaren cars, 1999 Minardi, 1998 Jordan. The Stewart cars were good in that they incorporated the tartan livery.

My pick from 1991 to 2001...in terms of car shape design

Ferrari 95, 01
Mclaren 00
Arrows 98
Stewart 99
Prost 00

These are the few i can think of for now...~

When does the "Modern Era" begin?

If you're talking about just cars to look at, the AP01 gets my vote. A beautiful colour and nice design. Unfortunately you got to look at it a lot because what it did best was sit beside the piste waiting to be picked up by the breakdown truck.

But of course my all time favourite car is the Lotus 79. That is my "modern era" after all!

Easy answer

1) 1991 Mclaren
2) 1995 Ferrari
3) 1992 Williams

PS Please note although I loathe both Mclaren and Ferrari, I know a good car when I see one.
