I don't know how much of the 'new Mansell' remark was just Lewis trying to play games, like his Red Bull is 'just a drinks' company' remark. Plus the speculation of him and Vettel not working well together if they were in the same team. He is still an excellent driver, but sadly still very prone to making some rash mistakes(flat spotting his tyre last weekend). In contrast Vettel, apart from two very bad mistakes last year(his coming together with Webber and his other crash with Button) seems to really have a new focus mentally.

I think both Vettel and Hamilton know that for the next few years they are going to be the guys at the top of the tree. They have a title apiece, but Vettel has advantages of being younger, the better car for the moment at least and a psychological edge, none of which can go down very well with Hamilton, who has his hands full dealing with a team-mate who, it seems, is better able to deal with the present tyre situation. That may change and won't apply to the same extent at all the races, but it ust be bothering him

Using the tyres starts from the beginning of Q1. If it had rained during qualifying or if he had been more careful with his tyres, Hamilton wouldn't have been having the problems that he had in the race. You have six sets of tyres to use from the start of qually. If you stop four times during the race, you use all but one of them (the ones that he flat spotted, in Hamilton's case).

I think that the conditions should be more in favour of Hamilton in China, since the temperatures should be more like Melbourne's were and the forecast is for rain on friday and saturday. But then they move on to places like Turkey and Spain.

Think you might be right. LH needs to sort out his cars tyre usage, at the moment JB's smoother style means he has the edge I think. LH (and JB) are having to drive the Macca so hard to keep up with SV that they are going to be much closer to the edge than SV in the slightly faster RB. That's always going to put them at a disadvantage with regards to tyres.

The whole season depends on whether Mclaren and Ferrari can get to the performance of the RB, as I think if any of the top 4 drivers (LH, SV, JB FA) were in the RB as it stands at the moment, they would be in the position SV is.

For now is right. He may be committed to McLaren, but what about after 2012? I wonder if he'll say that Red Bull is "just a drinks company" if he gets a drive there?

The comparisons that spring to mind at the moment are Mansell '92, Schumacher '02, '04 and perhaps Button '09. He's just running away with it. I can't see anyone beating him at the moment. Sure, he's probably got the best car, but Webber's performances suggest that it isn't totally dominant.

Yes the form would suggest that so far, although it could be said that the car hasn't been nearly as dominant in a race situation as it has in qualifying.

Whether that's to do with the car being different over 1 laps compared to 60 odd, or Vettel not yet fully extending himslef in the race i'm not yet sure about!

I think it is totally dominant. Webber is the weak link, he just doesn't seem to have his head in the right place at all. I would be shocked if he lasted the season.

The Red Bull looks a piece of cake to drive and you always feel they have something in hand. It is depressing really, I only wish McLaren could make a car that good. 2005 was the last time they got anywhere close.
