Dessert Will Penske Just Do It??

NASCAR and IndyCar giants Penske Racing could join V8 Supercars field

a meeting in the morning, and a number of recent visits

Is Dick Johnson smiling for a reason?

Tim Cindric Visit - More Here

New owners for FPR perhaps? . Or just visiting old mate Steve Horne?

The thing that doesnt stack up in AdCafe's fluff around Western Star wanting to sponsor a team is that they already do , in Erebus.

It would have been more accurate to use a past tense about that involvement.

Perhaps something more like this is what Penske wants: http://blog.gopenske.com/news/penske...-for-veterans/

This is what the colours look like on a V8 Supercar... http://d508o84lonf06.cloudfront.net/.../Unknown1.jpeg

Penske buy White Trucks, send his man out to get a feel, Roger has been here twice this year doing deals , he may well swoop on a couple of recs, get Ryan Briscoe in one car and another could be anyone or someone from the states, has Ambrose lined up for enduro's , nothing is impossible , and Penske doesn't do half measures.

Don't be surprised if he does, he is interested in spreading the Penske Empire of transport, so you never know.

BE good for the series if it did happen, Roland would have an equal to argue with.

Agreed, a very heavy hitter for a basic sponsorship deal.

Penske would be a great addition to the series giving it even more of an international profile, need to get the entries up to circa 30 again.

Surprised there isn't more talk floating around on the potential Penske deal with suggestions that they are looking at buying either FPR or Djr in this article.

http://www.theage.com.au/sport/motor...207-2yyez.html

This is a rather big deal, with potentially Ford's future in the series on the line as demonstrated by Jamie Allisons presence.

With Rusty French and the other guy having just bought FPR, I can't imagine them wanting to sell it so quickly. You'd have to imagine Dick would have to be trying pretty hard to offload his team after what he's been through over the last few years, selling it as a going concern would be a hell of a lot better than going to the wall and getting bugger all for it in a fire-sale.

DJR is effectively a customer team, taking chassis input from FPR, engines from InnoV8.

FPR makes much more sense from the perspective of a fully functioning facility that can build cars from scratch including engines, to fettle & engineer them & maintain them in all aspects.

And in an environment of reduced factory backing, why wouldnt an offer be interesting to entertain?

Except its all horse manure... but still...

Seems like Alot of effort to go to accommodate Penske's lead man over the weekend if there's nothing to it.

What it seems to me that everyone here is overlooking, is that Marcos Ambrose does not drive for Penske Racing. He drives for Richard Petty Motorsports. Yes, another Ford team, but Penske cannot just pick a driver, even if he drives a Ford and say that "he is going to drive my car, at this or that race." He's have to have Petty's permission, before anything like that would happen.

Only just over 2 months to source/build cars, workshop, hire staff, and hit the track.

Sounds like there could be up to 5 Holdens and 1 Merc from this year parked in sheds next season.

Penske run Ford in Nascar and Chevrolet in Indy.

Just happened to coincide with a Ford mans visit as well, do you really think they will tell media of the plans , nah, if Roger is serious, he would only sponsor the pointy end, or buy a team ,plant the right people , like roland did , and go racing.
