Looks like the pressure got to the #4 ... although that Bimmer did itself no favours sticking to the middle of the track.

Race over, congrats to to the #911 crew.

Well it's not a close finish then after the Falken Porsche had an incident.

Edit: Looks like #4 is a retirement.

Dramatic finish.

I don't think the BMW did anything wrong. That's the racing line an the Am driver is going to be concentrating and committed at that point.

Mercedes are all bunched up fighting each other. That's quite amusing.

If you run to a delta, you might just as well have some fun doing it.

Funny that the cars that are at the back of the GT3 packs are running together. BMW and Mercedes in fighting. The other cars have all spread out a bit.

There is BoP but it's N'ring specific and there are also some slightly different aero regs...

Crying shame what happened to Falken Porsche in the last ten minutes to keep their record of not winning a VLN race intact. Congrats to Manthey, German team , German car, three French drivers! Close finish to for the Cup5 class which was quite exciting.

Many thanks to the Radiolemans guys for their English commentary, I didn't know that some GT3 teams moved the position of the rear wings. Interesting.

Its part of the 2017 VLN Regulations. From what I understood rear wing has either 10cm less width or placement to the front as a new rule. Also minimum height was increased to 70mm.

Also allowed to combine those numbers: 5mm to the front, 5mm smaller wing.

AMG was definitely sandbagging. Porsche definitely were not. Bentley smelling blood so why not just go for a first-ever Nürburgring podium. Audi, not sure if they were sandbagging. I suspect they were. BMW not giving a **** and just testing set-ups and tyres and what not.

I noticed there was a small 'misunderstanding' on the Twitter yesterday after DriveTribe were accused of stealing RLM's content until the VLN people confirmed they did indeed have the rights to stream and post the content to YouTube (with the RLM crew seemingly unaware of the fact).

And some photos for those who enjoy looking at such things: http://www.gt-report.com/2017/03/30/...-spring-pt-ii/

We actually did too many awesome photos, so tomorrow we'll have a second gallery with again that many photos and they're no outtakes, but a split gallery

Interesting to note: VLN has banned confidential tyres but one driver told me he was testing tyres and didn't know if he was racing the selected tyre or a confidential tyre. And now VLN has yet to confirm the SP9/GT3 results because they're checking the tyres. Will be interesting to see if that brand was indeed not giving a **** about being taken out of the results if it meant they could test their tyres.

The #28 Land Audi was also in black.

What is the reason for this? I noticed a few of the BMWs were also running all black cars, but none of the Porsches seemed to be doing the same.

IIRC the factory blessed teams race the big enduros not with the cars they bought, but with bespoke enduro cars on loan from the factory. Might just be that Audi was a tad late delivering those cars to the teams and there was no time to wrap them up. Or maybe a big livery reveal is part of their PR strategy and they want to wait with that until the run-up to the big race, when they get more attention.

Thanks! So in all likelihood they were using the first race as a shake down for the cars they'll be using in the 24, or just are waiting for a better moment to garner more press. Interesting strategy. I will say the sight of the 3 all-black Audis running nose to tail in the first part of the race was pretty cool. Very aggressive.

That's right. Land has all of their European cars in Niederdreisbach and had one, I think it was Linda Lou, with them at the test. What they raced last week were cars from Audi.

In case of one of the carbon teams it was just a matter of not having had the time yet to paint the car
