10-10th's 2004 Fantasy Challenge ALMS RD3 PREDICTIONS (+ results)
this is the prediction thread for the 3rd round of the ALMS championship. Track is Lime Rock Park.
rules: i will try to make this sound as simple as possible.. -PICK THE POLESITTER AND CAR WITH THE FASTEST LAP FOR EACH CLASS (P1, P2, GTS AND GT) -PICK THE TOP 8 OVERALL (SPLIT INTO 2 GROUPS- POSITIONS 1-4, AND POSITIONS 5-8) the actual positions you place the drivers within group 1-4 and 5-8 wont matter. its all about if you correctly pick the correct cars in each group. any questions, see the 24hrs of le mans challenge thread, or just ask here. -PICK THE WINNER IN EACH CLASS (P1, P2, GTS AND GT). simple as that. i decided to make this challenge less complicated, especially since the ALMS has low car counts in each class (except GTS and GT perhaps) entries are DUE by Thursday July 1st at 11:00 PM GMT (british time) |

im sorry to announce that i wont be able to do the ALMS fantasy challeneges anymore. i just dont have the time anymore to go through everything.
however, i will still do the LMES and FIA GT ones. (since there are only 2 LMES races left, and 5 FIA GT races) sorry |

As a fellow "Pick 'ems" operator, I certainly understand, too, 19Dodge..... I only run one (in the IRL Forum)...I have no idea how your were getting results tabulated for 3 of them, and I still don't know how you handle two with the number of active participants in your FIA-GT and LMES contests in this particular Forum..... We do appreciate what you are doing now...and we'll live through not having an ALMS "pick 'ems" contest... |

the points scale for this is (all 3 fantasy challenges, now 2) is fairly easy. it uses the basic F1 Points scale. Lets say you pick Audi #8 to finish in the top 4. The car does finish in the top 4, it finishes 2nd. I will then give you 8 points. if you picked the Audi #88 in the top 4 ,and they won, i would then give you 10 points.
points rundown: 1st 10 2nd 8 3rd 6 4th 5 5th 4 6th 3 7th 2 8th 1 Fastest Lap or Pole: 1 point its pretty easy., but its a pain to caculate. i used to write everyones entries out on paper, but that took up too much ink (and time). so now i just read it off the comp screen. saves a little time (and money) |

Why not just say pick the top 3 in each class + pole, with the points system being 1 point for correctly guessing a car in the top 3 and 2 points for guessing it in the right finishing place, or the other way around, plus a point for pole. Thats my idea anyway.

I find that it is fairly easy to calculate....but you have to go through and cross-check various things.... I made mine a little more complicated so that people who are really into it would really have to think about various aspects of qualifying and the race itself... Take a trip over to that forum and see how I approached it.... A lot of it could translate to sportscars if you wanted to go beyond "Top 3 in Class," "pole," "fast Lap," etc... The people who play my IRL contest like it... |

I've got a spreadsheet complete with macros for my old pay CART/F1 pools if anyone is interested.
