Phone Charging at Le Mans

Hi all I am new to this forum so this question may have been answered. I am camping at LM this year and have joined the ACO will there be any phone charging points?

There were phone charging points in the welcome area, by the dunlop bridge, but you would have to stay close to the phone. Better to charge it in the car while you drive around to view from other area's of the circuit

Welcome Bruce .
Personally I'm using this:
eBay Iphone Charger AA-Batteries
Works well and gives a decent amount of power .

Perhaps this should be moved to the FAQ's at some point? (when answered)(mods)

Seem to remember there was a pretty thriving discussion of phone charging kit in the "New stuff" thread - which pretty much covered the full gamut from AA packs through to coal fired power stations - the only solid conclusion seeming to that solar panels were not the way forward...

Anyway modern phones hold quite a bit of charge and apart from the odd call home to say you arrived and set up camp what do you need a phone for, with moderate use it should last for 4 or 5 days anyway

Because a lot of people will be using their iPhones and Blackberrys to access the internet and power apps and that eats the juice.....

I use our site generator or a car charger. One of our group has a solar panel in his backpack.

Perhaps a little restraint in using them and turning them off will save power and allow people to talk to each other in person or even watch some cars

Or perhaps some people use their phone to listen to Radio Le Mans... Not everybody is updating their facebook page every five minutes

It depends on where you're camping...

If in Houx, you can connect up to the power there.

In the ACO grandstand, there are charging points there.

As others have mentioned, car chargers, most have multiple connections of which one or two are permanently live for things like this, or generators or solar panels.

A modern phone will use a lot less juice if not connected to the internet, but even still most of the power is drained when the screen is active, of course this is also a by product of actually using the phone to do something!

Thankfully we're based in Houx, so just connect it up, along with everything else we use
