Lowering costs, together with racing in Europe... No an easy one.

The new cars make it impossible for Euro drivers to take part in this race.

Possibly. I am still wondered that, given the weight difference (Lites are 1100 KG?) how much more power you'd need to give the Lites to have them posting similar lap times. Mid 400's maybe?

Lol

How much do you need to really get the picture with this GRC race?

It's a cash grab, last year there were 11 official drivers in GRC

Anyone here seriously think 30 odd quid for 11 drivers is ever worth it?

If you do fair enough.

But I would hope you all a little more bright!

Oh and another thing I ahve noticed

Type Lydden Hill into Google and see what the first website at the top of the list is.

These are the type of people that now run rallycross.

You really want to deal with them? Go ahead.

I wonder if the idiot boy Doran will be involved in the racing.

He will no doubt be on his usual best behaviour, shouting at officials and dancing on cars in the paddock, just because daddy owns the circuit.

I have no idea if Eriksson is involved or not. But he decided to pull out last year from supercars if what I heard is correct.

I see a temporary, but functioning, website with a promise to have the new and improved one available in the next few weeks. Hardly noteworthy....

As said above, I'll reserve judgment on all this til we were the season start in earnest. Then we'll know whether it's worth buying tickets or not.

Not quite sure what point you are trying to make? They have paid money to appear at the top of a Google search and that's bad?

Speedmachine seems to have a big budget for advertising as its constantly appearing in my Facebook timeline (the same video featuring that pillock Christian Stevenson).

The first link returned by google is an advert, indicated by [Adv.] So it's a paid number 1. That's a clever move by IMG/Silverstone. You won't win that game to get Lydden back on top.

The picture looked like a game render of a fiesta to me. That's why I asked for a real link. Pix dumped by someone with 6 posts since 2013 are not real info.

It's a sponsored ad right? If I understand the Google search engine correctly you can sponsor adverts to crop up at the top of the page for certain, specified search terms. I can't be bothered to check others, but it might be that Silverstone or WRx returns the same result. Certainly nothing to do with lydden.

The important thing it to be outraged about it, not to wonder why it is there.

Oh it's nothing to do with Lydden, that was not my point.

The IMG machine clearly using Lydden as a search tool, fairly ruthless stuff sadly.

The fact that Speedmachine comes top of the list when you type in Lydden Hill is irrelevant.
It comes top of the list when you type in anything rallycross related.
Try typing BTRDA rallycross or ten tenths rallycross and it is also top of the list.
They are obviously targeting Google ads very hard.

Lol

Shows that their PR campaign is struggling to sell tickets to me and they have budget to throw at this event.

Rather sad to be honest to think that the majority of people that go to this event will hardly even notice the racing.

I'm yet to see a positive comment on Facebook aimed at Sppedmachine. All the comments I've seen are just pointing out that it is overpriced.
I'm sure they'll still sell the majority of tickets, but it's good to see fans giving them what for.

Yeah, the handful of positive comments I have seen seem to be vastly outnumbered by the negative comments.

I see they are now running a promotion where you can get freebies if you help to sell tickets? Not sure quite how to interpret that.

Ha, if they gave me a free ticket if I managed to sell a ticket, then I might go for that (i.e. would be half price). Even then it would be pretty steep!

So, let's just go in 2019 after they introduce the Platinum Class (depending on what that ends up being)!

There is always some sort of elevation in articles from GRC where they write how special, revolutionizing, incredible, good, evolving etc. GRC is. GRC seems to be over the top if one is to believe their articles.

Will be interesting though to see this car.

I think the cars sound decent but would prefer to see on addition to supercars, not instead of.

Platinum has surely got to be electric? The GRC were talking about electric before the World Championship, so this must be what they are aiming for?

Given that I (rather foolishly) booked a non-refundable hotel room near Lydden when the first announcement was made I am committed to October. My hope is that, with decent numbers, the "Gold" Lites could be entertaining. Of course the question is, can they get the numbers?...
