With an ERC24 subscription you would have known that already the other day.

It is seemingly a long old warehouse with concrete surface. AFAIK this is a novelty for a proper RX event. If one can call US RX "proper RX"…

Now, now, be nice! I didn't think the Irwindale event was as close to "proper" rallycross as the events at NJMP were last year, but at least these events are a lot closer to rallycross then the Super Rally dirt oval at X-Games.

I think the course layout of this second round could be interesting, thats for sure.

Sorry to disappoint but no water splash at round 3, nor back flips (although that is a cool idea and will mention it). Remeber Millen flipped an off-road truck.......badly!

Tanner is committed to full GRC and X Games. Busy week for Andreas and crew even without damage to the car especially as it is west coast of US they are flying from. Bleary eyes in the paddock at Lydden on Friday.

Need seperate regs right now to allow rally drivers to sample the sport without the need for high budget builds. Worked well at NJMP last year and if we had stayed on the east coast we would have had a strong AWD entry because of this.

The US Rallycross Championship that will continue after X Games (running with TORC events) will probably be a lot more to the pleasing of European purists and will play out in front of 50k+ crowds and with amazing television.

We need GRC to work and build the momentum to take into 2012 when they have bigger plans.

Hi Mark ,

Can you confirm the remaining dates. Am I right in saying only one more round ? Nothing on the East side ?

There are two events left in 2011 GRC.

June 17-18: Last Chance Qualifier @ Pikes Peak Speedway

July 30-31: X Games

Remember the US Rallycross Series has run in conjunction (but silently) with the GRC and will continue after X Games with their first event at Bark River, WI in early August.

For this year the TORC sanctioned events will be 100% dirt. There was too little time to build the proper tracks at these venues but RallyCar (who run US Rallycross Series) intend to remedy that in 2012.

Also, the Twin Peaks show will be re-run in its entirety on Saturday, May 21st from 7:30-9pm ET on ESPN2. Hopefully rain delayed NASCAR and over running Softball won't impact the show.

Are you thinking of coming to Pikes Peak?

I'm in two minds on this. The final three rounds were all going to be held on all dirt courses (so not really rallycross) and were not looking to have the full support of all the factory teams, so I daresay its better to have no events rather then something half arsed.

On the other hand that means there is going to be at least 6 months until the next rallycross event in the US: I daresay that might mean the sport will slip from the public conscience...

...I wonder if there will be any events organised at NJMP towards the end of the year to try and plug the gap?

No additional events planned.

I am very pleased that RallyCar cancelled the remaining events. We (the Best Buy Ford Fiesta team) weren't planning on attending. All dirt tracks with truck style jumps (table top for 2 wheel drive) weren't what we thought the sport needed. RallyCar were trying to do the right thing in arranging these and took a brave decision to cancel them.

X Games takes a lot of budget and energy from everyone!

The good news is that the last 8 weeks have been amazingly busy working toward next year. In September details will be announced (remember this year it was only announced 6 weeks before the event) with classes, tracks, sponsors, manufacturers and so on.

There are still some details to sort out but let me assure you not to worry about the empty six months. They are helping us build a stronger foundation for success.

Now for Lydden!!!

Are there any plans to have highligths on Motors TV next year similar to WRC and ALMS (other ESPN shown events)?
