Can anyone help our man?
Is this a Group 1 or prodsaloon car? My recollection is that there eas a 2 car Mayfair backed team around that time but that was prodsaloons? Drivers may have included Robertson, Syd Fox, Lanfranchi, Andrew Jeffrey? You say the car last ran in about 1987, presumably that was in roadsaloons, would that have been in Richard Waller's hands someone like that? Just trying to jog people's memories. |

What colour is it now, there was a white one in Road Saloons and also Modified Production Saloons. I think there is another thread on these cars somewhere here givin more details.

I've heard the name of Richard Waller before so perhaps it was his. The car now is white with a blue stripe and was involved in an accident because it has an unpainted back panel and O/S rear quarter.

The car Richard drove then went on to Brian Sheridan who changed the bodywork to big arches and fitted a 3 litre Monza engine.

Are you sure, the last time I saw that car used was in Road Saloons when him and me decided to start the Modified Production Saloons at Oulton Park, I am almost sure he went straight over to a big arched Monza from there.

Brian ran the car in the Budget Rent a Car Saloons in 1988/89 then sold it to Richard De La Cruise who then sold it to Lawrence Sayers Gillian in 1991.

Yes thinking about it I remember now that Roland Hayes prepared it for the ModProds (Budget Rent A Car at the time).

And in 2004, a few owners later I bought it and sold it to Les Beer who raced it a few times in DMN. But this isn't the car gypseywilson has bought....

This is how it looked just before it was parked in a lock up in the early 90's. Any more info forthcoming?

Looks all the world like the one that raced in Road Saloons then ModProds I mentioned earlier. I think I have raced against it in both competitions.

Hi I can't believe that your Opel still exsists. My freind Gary Rose was a mechanic for Monorep Norwood Green back in the seventies before it became a Vaxhall dealer. They owned and I thought built your opel Commodore, sponsored by Mayfair. I was about 14 ish at the time and was lucky enough to travel in the Range Rover that towed it to the Race meetings on sevral occations and then in the pits with the car.At that time it was driven by Tony Lanfranci. But the car wasn't blue It was eather Metalic Red with Mayfair in Gold or the other way round,it was a long time ago.I could and track down my freind,he might even have some old photos.

Any photos or info would be great but I think the car you knew might not be the same. This one was supposed to be built by Andy Rouse not Monorep but I may be wrong!
