FIM revokes World Championship licences for 3 circuits

The FIM has revoked the WC licences for Assen, Mugello and Jerez in a reaction to the havoc the fans caused during those GP's.

'Hooligans' crowded on the track and caused a lot of trouble. In the Dutch GP they threw bottles and cans to the marshals and tried to rip Jurgen vd Goorberghs helmet and boots from his body, Jurgen came away with some bruises.

The FIM will inspect the tracks early next year and if there are signs of improvements on spectator control measures the tracks will get their licences back.

For Assen the first testcase will come in 1,5 week when the Superbikes are at Assen.

i would doubt that any of these tracks would lose there gp's. pity the fans cant use some common sense and stand on the side of the track if they need to jump the fence.... would hate to see philip island with those big fences that they have at the european tracks

Assen has already announced big changes.

During the Superbike weekend everyone arriving at the track will be checked. Bottles and cans will be taken away as well as metal pipes and wood to built things from (since they can be thrown).

There will also be more security people around the track and new grandstands with seats that are sealed off for "non-seated" fans.

Assen and Mugello won't be lost from the calender. Those two circuits will do everything they can to make sure it doesn't happen again.

As for Jerez, it will be no big loss as Spain already has 3 races a year!

All 2 tracks deserve to get the chop, because their fans were a total disgrace.

Maybe if they learn to control the fans, they will get their races back.

all 2?

3 lost their licences

Hopefully Assen will be better next weekend, the organisation will apparently not even allow excessive loads of beer to be brought onto campsites around the track to keep the number of drunk people to an minimum level.

I don't care about the fans .. those circuits are the best in MotoGP calendar ... and the fans ... check Monza in F1 .. if TGF wins .. the track will be invaded ..

The debris fences as they are known are there to stop debris from hitting spectators after an accident, not to stop spectators from invading the track. I'm afraid that more and more circuits will be forced to erect debris fencing to avoid litigation in the event of debris hitting a spectator. It's for your own protection so don't fight it!
