I've had a look at the CBC listings, the whole of Sunday, but cannot see anything mentioned.
I must be missing something: can you help Ted? |

So does anybody want to discuss the interview then?
What was said? |

Apparently not.
And I wouldn't like to speculate. |

It was CBC radio, I was thinking TV for some reason.
I never caught the interview, but my Dad did and he said it was just a quick 2-minute thing. In essence, JV moaned about getting fired by BAR. He said Sauber were going to make a good improvement this year. Again, that was according to my Dad and he would most likley have been half-listening to it. Does anyone have transcripts or anything? |

Nothing new really and it lasted only 5 minutes or so. JV did reiterate his respect for Peter Sauber, calling him firm but fair; and that Peter had said up front that this was likely Jacques' last chance to prove himself in F1. JV perceived that as Peter's attempt to motivate him, something he said that was not necessary as he was VERY determined. Also his regret that he wasn't at BAR in 2004, after 5 years of hard work and when the team had finally shown some progress. But when he left BAR in 2003 he was mentally drained from the DR days at BAR, and the 10 month sabbatical was definitely good for him and "recharged the batteries". He also stated that he would consider NASCAR after his F1 days are over.

Very few have had races in NASCAR and F1 let alone a serious campaign in both. THat would be quite something.

Villeneuve's alluded to that a few times in the past.
I think it's more of a "that might be fun to try" than any serious intention. |

Any genuine petrol head racer would love to have a go in NASCAR. Tell me you wouldn't! Who can resist huge grids, great big grunty V8 motors (and 1950s techology) ?!
Looking to Jacques' more immediate future, I get the feeling he might work well with Peter Sauber - he clearly respects his straightforwardness. |

Would be great to see JV in NASCAR. It's a great spectacle!
Batten down the hatches, I've just said NASCAR is good in an F1 forum! |

Less g-forces, no complicated electronics for engine braking, not such a frantic race-pace - sounds like a good fit.

... you forgot one small detail Glen. JV will be 42 years old then, an age when most ex F1'ers are at home getting fat.

What kind of points differential to Massa would you accept a signal that perhaps NASCAR is a good idea? 20%? Last edited by Glen; 14 Feb 2005 at 17:46. |
