I was going to bring this up here, the new Hot Rod has a great article with excellent pictures of the new mustangs in the issue that showed up at my house the other day. However, Vette beater? I don't think so, the new vettes are 405 hp in standard trim, and the new Z06 should be closer to 500 hp with the 7 liter LS6 Variant that is planned. But we will see. Personally I like the new mustang, I owned a 69 mustang many years ago, and the new one has a grille that is more than a little reminiscent of that. Robert

A friend of mine has a '67 and the family linage is definitely there to see. If I were to be really picky I'd say there is a little too much air between the wheels and 'arches but I'm sure that could soon be remedied. Now all I need is a right hand drive one..... and a large chunk of cash.

Last night I attended the Detroit Int'l Auto Show and the same '05 Mustang that appears in the pages of the current Motor Trend magazine was on display.

I want one too. The production version does not have the agressive air intakes that the concept car had at last years show, but I think it looks cleaner and meaner. The scoops will probably appear on soon-to-follow SVT/Cobra versions anyway. Also, I was dissapointed that the new 'stang will not have independent rear suspension, but Motor Trend claims that will be a part of the Cobra package as well.

Bottom line, I walked by that car 3 times. I could have stood there for an hour, even though the Ford GT and the Shelby concept car were just steps away. My wife just shook her head. She liked the Lexus! Is that grounds for divorce????

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Gimme old school anyday over the new stuff. I think they should have kept moving forward and not try and give a modern version of a classic, that's always a bad idea.

Fabulous motor and at $20,000 for the base model V6 an absolute steal. You couldn't buy a bloody roller skate for that money over here. (See my rant "Rip off Britain" in Parc Ferme for my thoughts on this very subject).

No.

But I think you and J. need to have a serious talk.

I've never been a Moo-tang fan-okay, i lie, when the '64 came out and Captain Crunch had little plastic fastbacks and convertibles as free prizes in the bottom of the box, I was pretty enamoured of them.

I dunno about the 2005, it touches some deep primal nerve and I swear, i fully understand why you kept going back. Its just what J Mays intended and I swear I want one too.

Now.

How do I convince B??????

So does the '05 Mustang finally get a new platform or yet another heavily revised version of the '67(??) Fox platform??

Good to hear from you again!

The new 'stang is not the same platform as the current one. It is essentialy the same platform as the Lincoln LS, T-bird and Jag S-type.

My big dissapointment is the live rear axle, though the SVT version will have IRS.

OMG thats not nice, you guys, especially you UK guys, should be getting yourselves into V8 Holden Commodores, even the pick up versions look way hotter than that hornless steer from Henry. And cheaper and they handle!! but then I could be wrong I suppose
