RedBull in flex-wing scandal, shock, horror!

Oh no,it's happening again!

Another case of 'well it's passed the tests,so it's fine'.

I have faith that the F1 brain trust will move toward an ingenious solution to the entire flexi-wing problem: the teams will institute a ban of onboard cameras.

i hope the FIA can fix this flex thing aslong as they give the teams an inch they will take it a mile (no pun intended).

Rumour has it that their Monaco aero configuration has approximately 78 strategically placed 'wingdings' to promote their slogan.

Blatantly cheating, I hope the FIA deals with this as they should any team that flouts the rules, point deductions should be on the cards imo.

They've obviously built a wing that passes the required tests, otherwise it wouldn't be on the car.

In the video the car looks as though it goes over quite a large bump, which would no doubt put quite a strain on even the stiffest aero device. Not so long ago there were some wing failures because the rear wing mountings were too stiff and suffered from vibration.

"video" in the post above is gif image, which is made of frames from actual video - so that could give impression of a bump...Bump or not, flexing is rather impressive

Red Bull gives you (flexible) wings! Amazing footage, certainly seems to be flexing significantly...

Yes but if you notice that the grandstand "flexes" vertically too, it has been editted to make it look worse than it is.

The wings don't flex, the wing mounts seem to flex.

It was pretty blatantly obvious when watching the race. Clearly, the static scrutineering test is inadequate. All teams are expert at getting around these tests though.

ferrari McLaren and now RBR have been caught up in this mess the FIA need to make clear cut rules and tests for this.

The rules and the tests are already clear - but the test doesn't detect the rule very clearly. For example, the test uses weights to pull the wing downwards, but the drag of the car moving forward might actually cause the wing to bend backwards and then down which the test is not optimised for.

Thats one theory at least for RBR's wing, that the vertical load is causing the flex, not the horizontal load.

I'd be surprised if either of Ferrari, McLaren, BMW, RBR, Renault, Williams or Toyota didnt have their own version of flexi wings.

And if RBR have them, surely that means Toro Rosso do too, doesn't it?

ahem.....'A' rear wing has passed scrutineering tests many times by now.

I'd like to see these rear wings pulled backwards and downwards with more force......just to see the look on the engineers face if for nothing else.

Good point Martyn 'A' rear wing has passed scrutineering, but surely it's the same rear wing they go racing with? what passes through scrutineering would be the same parts that will be on the car during the race I would have thought..

the cars go straight to parc feme after the race. Its not like Adrian can go and put some old boat anchor stiff wing without the FIA noticing.

I believe Toro Rosso are a development cycle behind, and the new rear wing was probably part of the Spanish upgrade for RBR.
