GRD FORMULA ATLANTIC/F2

hi all

sorry if this is posted in the wrong area

new to the forum after purchasing a GRD formula 2/atlantic

im unsure of the year and model of the car. it has rear uprights with GRD 272 cast into them but looks to have been converted to front radiator at some point.

i cant find a chassis plate on the car

if anyone could shed some light on the car that would be great

also has 191614 stamped into the roll over bar

photos are on photo bucket because i cant figure out how to attach them to this

thanks

Elliot

If you go to the chassis history archive and Page 9 you will be in GRD land.

Someone may be able to do a link , not I.

The number on the roll over bar is the SCCA scrutineering number , 19 a particular area of the USA.

Car first registered in SCCA in Southern California, Jan 1978
Allen Coy should be able to tell us who the first user was there, as Cal Club records survive that far back.
Car must be older than that but probably a cheap import from Europe at that point.

Just checked against the patchy results I have for 1978 Cal Club and the photos of the body correlate with what I have.
David Head, of Torrance, CA, with #5 GRD is in the entry list for Riverside national 28 May 1978, so he's probably your first US user. Car was entered as an FB so either a twin cam or BDD in the back
Finishes 6th in a regional at Riverside 20 August 78.

There are quite a few old Southern Californian guys on the F.Atlantic group on Facebook, might be worth joining and posting pictures there to see if it rings bells.

Thanks for the information
Tried to join group but have been rejected
After speaking to Peter Denty he believes it started life as a 272
Still looking for more information on the car
Thanks again
