As I said on the last page, and Peter observes above, there is more to it than just having a gap on an event timetable. But, while we’re on that front, GTSCC races are usually 90 minutes min (there have been exceptions, I know) with 120 min preferred, and with 40 min qualifying. That’s a lot of track time to fit in at a two day meeting with many other of the organiser’s own grids.

The other point, an organiser like GTSCC draws cars from other series / championships for their grids, so will be careful not to schedule a race on a weekend when some / many of their customers could possibly favour being elsewhere.....

I wonder if the GTSCC will be at the Castle Combe Autumn Classic next season ? The fact that the HRDC are supplying three grids totalling nearly two hours of racing time possibly suggests not , especially as the Castle Combe GTSCC races at an hour were less than the preferred duration . Have FISCAR confirmed their calendar yet ? I couldn't see one on their website .

The lack of confirmation either way coming from the series organisers would suggest (at the moment) that they are not taking a grid to the Autumn Classic. As you say, we do know that HRDC will be taking all their grids to Combe, however. They could take up quite a lot of the day!

It's about time CC took the plunge and go for 2 days, do they have severe limits on track time preventing this?

Did they not originally have a ‘modern’ day for the CCRC grids immediately following the Autumn Classic?

Combe is limited to 12 races days per annum, if memory serves.

Yes - although I understand that the 'modern' day was moved to a different weekend, as the process of emptying and refilling the paddock on Saturday night caused a few issues.

Think I posted on CC thread, I loved the single day meeting on Saturday. We arrived Friday evening, went for a walk to the village, had a great meal in the pub. Up early scrutineer-ed then straight on to track. Race in the afternoon packed up and back to workshop, then still time to local curry house in evening.
Happy Christmas.

Perhaps they still aren't able to muster up more entries for next year?

HSCC have just released an update on the STC series for 2019. Here-

21st December 2018

The Good News!

Dear Competitor,

The HSCC invites you to join us for the 2019 Super Touring Car Season.
2018 was not the best of years, but the Super Touring Car Challenge will be back for 2019 with a new name and a title sponsor.

There are some changes which we will reveal in the New Year, with the only change in regulations being the introduction of Dunlop Tyres as the control tyre.

We are maintaining the ethos of the series that Jonny Westbrook and Dave Jarman created, in that the cars should be genuine Touring cars in original livery, and original specification with period history where ever possible. However as the FIA HTP moves away from recording this data, for the GA Class cars we will accept cars built to the original specification maintaining period liveries. But they must have FIA Historic Technical Passports. For those competing in the Super Touring Car Classes, whilst it is now possible to obtain an FIA HTP, we will continue to accept HSCC Vehicle identity Forms.

As in previous years at each event there will be two podiums, one for the Post 1990 and one for the Pre 1990 Classes. In 2019 there will be an additional podium for Pre 1990 cars conforming to Group 1 – Group 1.1/2 Regulations.

Global Endurance Legends is going partly to Racing whilst having demos aswell
Three races at Catalunya,Spa and Monza
The format will be 30 Mins Practice,30 Mins Quali
and a 1 1/2 hour race.

They will also have 2 demos at Dijon and Paul Ricard which will have 3×40 Mins sessions.

Its good but what makes it different from what we already have in Masters.Thoughts?

GTSCC have just filled in the two gaps in the middle of their 4 race series for 2019.

The full calendar is-

May 03-05 Donington Historic Festival. 2hr race

May 18/19 Silverstone International Trophy (HSCC) 90 min race

June 14-16 Historic Tour d’Albi, France. 2hr race

Nov 1-3 Algarve Classic Festival. 2hr race

Silverstone clashes with Spa Classic so I will be at the latter, unfortunately. Albi is the weekend after the l’Age d’Or at Dijon so will take some juggling.....

Very similar, but up until now they have run demos only. High profile organiser based on mainland Europe which appeals to owners also based there. Also runs Le Mans Classic, although the GEL cars wouldn’t be eligible for that- but could have their own race.....

Think its a new addition to the calendar, VdeV series should go to Navarra on 6-8 September, 2 one hour races, Q time from 30' to 60'. The four other races are French tracks only, more info vdev.fr Dunlops are not mandatory but a deal has been negotiated with Oreca. Maximum tank capacity is 80 l Sports and 100 l GT's and T's. Relaxed ambiance, Grp1 welcome. Sorry if redundant.

Been doing some research on Albi (or Albi Le Sequestre to give full title) and the June meeting above. Any tenthers raced there? Gerard?

Meeting organised by HVM, as part of their ‘Historic Tour’ that starts with the Le Castellet event late March, and which Masters are sending grids to.

70km NE of Toulouse, with easy A68 / N88 road access, the circuit is located at Albi’s Airport, with the runway in the middle of the circuit. Watched some recent on board and the layout appears to consist of straights and chicanes. It looks like some of the latter can be by-passed, but from reading up sounds like they are not usually. Obviously being an airport there are no elevation changes! The pit boxes and admin buildings look quite modern from appearance, so presume facilities are also. Just outside the airport is a retail area that looks to have a big Leclerc supermarche- and the obligatory McDonalds. So that’s beer and food sorted......

Looks it. Difficulty is going to be the transport logistics with Dijon week before! On further research, there’s a Buffalo Grill and a diner on site as well- being at an airport obviously brings advantages....

Mike, very kind of you to mention a meeting taking place on our continent…
Yes, I raced there several times and I do regret the very fast right after the tribunes straight having been replaced by a chicane.
I know you're not a great fan of Magny-Cours so can't imagine you'll love Albi! Going from Dijon to Albi will take around 8 driving hours so not really next door while back to Calais will require another 9 hours.

You all know HVM, very warm welcome specially to foreigners, English spoken and other languages can be considered (even under torture)! This brings a question. What makes a good racing meeting for you? Probably this track won't be applauded but having fun with friends is essential, isn't it?

Instead of McDo' I suggest La Dume or Ponte Vecchio both being pizzerias! The natives are sympathetic in spite of a tough accent making English impossible to pronounce…
