From the FJHRA. An interesting additional grid at the meeting...

Coppa GEKI Russo; Monza Historic; 20th – 22nd September 2019

Count “Jonny” Lurani gave birth to Formula Junior, and in his words its heir was the new Formula 3.

At the Monza Historic Meeting this September, organised by Peter Auto, we are delighted that we will be celebrating both the ‘Junior’ and the ‘Heir’, for the “Coppa GEKI Russo”.
This combined grid for Formula Junior and Historic F3 1000cc cars will be a wonderful joint adventure, in memory of Giacomo “Geki” Russo, who was not only a multiple Italian F3 Series Champion, but also won 5 Formula Junior races at Monza.
1960 1 FJ win (at Monza)
1962 4 FJ wins (2 at Monza)
1963 4 FJ wins (2 at Monza)
1964 6 F3 wins (5 at Monza)
1965 3 F3 wins (1 Monza)
1966 1 F3 win (at Monza)

Sadly "Geki" lost his life in a tragic accident at Caserta in 1967, but we are very pleased that his daughter Beatrice and other members of the family will be with us to celebrate his FJ and F3 racing successes.

Open to minimum National A licence holders, the outline timetable will be qualifying on Friday, with a race on both Saturday and Sunday, and socials are also being planned both evenings. Entries will open soon.

Although not on the website yet, a provisional timetable and entry lists have been sent to competitors.

Some good grids, but for young will- GpC 14 cars and Endurance Legends 17. The latter is virtually all GTs but at the moment the Bentley Speed 8 is showing. All can change, of course.....

CER1 includes both the 512M and 512S, plus the Howmet, but no 917.....

60s Endurance has 58 entries at the moment, including the Stephens family in their noisy beast of a 356, the Elva GT160 and two Morgan SLRs...... No doubt we’ll have our little British corner of the paddock again!

Group C and Enduro legends do tend to pick up entries closer to the meeting.Hope so.

It seems like the Masters Legends is more for Prototypes with PA's one for GT's although both do cater for both.

The Speed 8 will be great down the main and back straight.

512 S,512 M.Damn that would be worth the trip for me alone

I assume the 917 is getting stripped and rebuilt after Hungary .

I'll more likely be at Spa but if it weren't for travel it would be Monza.

Maybe one day...

Nope. Doubt we’ll get another ‘communique’ until closer to the event, when the paddock and box allocations are sorted. Likely the entry lists will appear on the website at the same time....

63 cars for 60s Endurance beats any of the other grids hands down!

It’s forecast to be dry (except Wed eve), sunny to partial cloud and low 20s. Sounds perfect racing weather......

Will be great to catch up with you all after the long break....

BTW going off topic, but what do you think of the idea of an extra race in August next year? Suits us as long as it’s somewhere worth going to!

Sounds like a good idea...but as you say will depend on where they are thinking of taking us!

Would also be good if they did a flat 4 Porsche race as well...but I think that might be pushing our luck!!!

Yes, almost a case of creating a race series for you to win.....

Only worry about racing in August is whether the majority nationality that races with PA will want to disturb their traditional summer break. Or is that a myth, Gerard?

Not really a myth I fear Mike. Looking at the entrants if one or several french teams were missing very few things would change. Bearing in mind that PA is… a French team!

One positive is that there would be more room in the paddock for ‘foreign’ trucks!

Sure! What about Jarama, the golf course is near by, nice track but may be too much sun in August… Estoril? Nice beaches, a lot of sun, good food. Nogaro!

So that’s why they don't run an event over here then, John?

Massive storm passed just to the South of Milan last night, and luckily all we got was bit of rain, thunder and lightning. I’ve seen this paddock when it floods, and it’s not a pretty sight.....
