I would imagine he did if that was the time he set! I would imagine that he went out on an exploratory lap to see if he was up to the task, and bailed out halfway round a lap - look to see BJ in the car come qualifying...

Looks like DC and Herbert have moved up a few places along with a few of the other drivers and teams. Qualifying should be interesting. Big difference between Zonta and Villeneuve as well. Ralf ms

It's got to be that a) Ralf is a bit out of practice b) he's not taking ANY risks so early in the weekend and c) they're setting that car up for hard-compounds and a BIG fuel load.

What's up with Gené? He shouldn't be doing so well! HOORAH!

And nice one herbie, keep it up. You're not gone yet....

It is my understanding that if ralf isn't up to it, the Team can claim force majuer (however you spell it) and enter Bruno. I'm not sure what the cut off point is though.

Regarding a change of drivers, Article 60 of the Sporting Regulations says:

CHANGES OF DRIVER

60) During a season, each team will be permitted one driver change for their first car and will be permitted to have three drivers for their second car who may be changed at any time provided that any driver change is made in accordance with the Code and before the start of qualifying practice.

After 16.00 on the day of scrutineering, a driver change may only take place with the consent of the stewards.

In all other circumstances, competitors will be obliged to use the drivers they nominated at the time of entering the Championship except in cases of force majeure which will be considered separately. Any new driver may score points in the Championship.

Ralf

I've lost a lot of respect for Ralf Schumacher this week. He was going to make a decision about racing at the beginning of the week but then delayed it so Junqueira had to fly to Canada as well. He then decided to make a decision after Friday practice and then after Saturday morning practice.

Imagine being in Junqueira's position. Your on the verge of fulfilling your ambition of becoming an F1 driver but you don't know whether you'll be racing or not because someone else can't make up their mind. If you are going to race in your first ever GP you don't get to practice on Friday because this guy still hasn't made up his mind. Then after Friday's practice Ralf says he'll wait until after Saturday morning practice to make his decision. So Junqueira now knows that if he is going to make his F1 debut he won't get any practice in at all before qualifying. Imagine your first F1 experience being a highly pressurised 12 lap qualifying session. It would have been a disaster. It was completely unfair of Ralf to keep Junqueira hanging on like that. He wouldn't have liked it if someone jhad done it to him. He should have made a definate decision earlier in the week and stuck to it.
