How about the other standard answer? http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/large/438-2.jpg

Here are a few pics at UltimateCarPage.com

It isn't in a as new condition there, but looks all the more wonderful for being used.

Alfa Romeo Tipo 158/159 - the original Alfetta!

There is no doubt that both the above are lovely, however this is my all time favourite:

We don't agree about everything!

It is Dick Seaman in his GP Delage - a ten year old car beating the modern opposition after a "modernisation" by Ramponi. Little wonder that Seaman was snapped up by Mercedes Benz!

Mrs B's link appears to be unhappy, so here is an alternative view.

Let's hope this works.

Duncan, I think yours is probably second, but do you know what the car at the back of your picture might be?

That picture is awful, what about one in a nice Silver? I always prefered the Auto unions to the Merc and I had to make a trip to Donington to see this one while I was there:

My vote goes for the 250F, but as a photo has already been posted of it, how about this one - a bit more obscure, the 4.7 litre Kincraft-Ford from 1968.

i love the eagle, but this one is one of my faves, although i don't care much for the martini colors on this one, i still love it. over many before and after....
then there is the current Raynard Champcar, and the purposeful beauty of a supermodified...

Whilst I give both the Eagle and the 250F VERY high marks, my vote must go to the Lotus 25, surely the neatest most elegant single seater ever.

Now thereby hangs a tale .... for many years that pretty little baby was thought to be the E-type Auto Union .... but actually, it isn't even an AU (despite the four ring badge), let alone the E-type.

Coopers of the mid 1960's are very sleek, but I love them all...at least the pre bill-board, pre aero panel.

Lola T400

I reckon the best looking open wheeler in its day was the Lola T400 F5000. It is a pity it didn’t quite preform as well as it looked!

With all due respect to the many excellent designs posted thus far and those to come...

I thought that when you were speaking "single seaters", my mind went to another type!
