Menard

Autosport is reporrting that John Menard and his MCT company will build chassis and engines for cart in 2005.

The tides apear to be turning. Slow but sure. This beats the hell out of the "C^RT is dead" garbage we were reading 1 year ago.

Sounds like good news! There's very strong rumours going around that 1 or 2 German engine manufacturers will join CART in 2005 or 2006.

P.S. Is John Menard still involved with the IRL?

The article said that this would not affect his IRL program.

Do you really want Menard though? His engines have been borderline uesless outside of Indy qualifying. The chassis part could be interesting. I do believe Paul Menard wants to be a road racer so you might have another contestant in the Miami Autocross in 05.

Menard just signed on to sponsor that joke known as the IPS not too long ago.

I wonder how much truth there is to this story, because I haven't seen anything mentioned on any of the auto racing websites.....not even as a rumour!?

Yep, they're still out there USACing around!
In fact they're probably just behind NASCAR and NHRA in size, but they still don't seem to really know how to run a series.

If this rumours is true, it's just a business enlargement for Menard, but i wouldn't connect that with his involvement in IRL, who doesn't seem at all to be decreasing; on the contrary, he's decided tosposnor IPS since latestrace and for all 2004.
