Does the new Points System Help Jr

Does the new points system help Jr. Under the old system he would be in danger of falling way behind both Johnson and Gordon in the championship hunt due to his injuries. Under the new system he will almost certainly be one of the teams in the top 10 and in contention for the championship.

And what about the Richmond race. The top 10 may be all locked up by then and the race would be almost meaningless.

No race is meaningless - there's a win to go for.

That's actually one of the problems of NASCAR - too many races.

It devalues the significance of being a race winner.

My point though is when Richmond rolls around there is a good chance that all 10 spots will be locked in and thereby make Richmond much less meaningful. It could wind up being the "only race" of the year that doesnt mean anything towards determining the eventual champion.

Too many races? Hardly. It is the only racing series where the fans are demanding more races. Richard Petty's 200 wins can hardly be considered devalued.

I would like to see 40 races in a season !
36 is too many races ? NO WAY !!!!!!

The new "play-off" will favor those that are in the top 10.
It will also guarantee that one of THEM will be the Champion.
Everyone else is eliminated from finishing in the top 10 !!!

40 Races would be fine. The only problem is if they eliminated 3 races then Martinsville, Watkins Glen, and Pocono would be the tracks they would look at and those are some tracks that I enjoy.
