10 Tenths Track Day

Having volunteered to sort this out, it's probably time I did some arranging...

So far, I think we've pretty much decided on:

1/ Some time in August
2/A weekday
3/Preffably the Bedford Autodrome

Any other suggestions??

We're obvioulsy going to have to split the costs between us - what does everyone consider a reasonable price?

I also need some ideas on numbers so sign below please!

Reb.

I'd love to do it, but 'no can do' on a weekday. Not now I'm... ahem... working for somebody else again!

Can't we go out to play on a Sunday?

spoke to one couple - they want to come and he (Jason) asks if it would be possible to take his car (XR2) round the track (no passengers). If so can you find out prices for him and things like insurance, licence.
Who are you getting as drivers - Rick, Paul, John B&Q?

ps your new email address isn't working.

Found Bedford on the map! a long way from sunny Lancashire

Les, track days are usually where you drive your own (or hired) car around on track.

As for insurance, i think most people dont bother.

Looking at my schedule, I expect to be back in the UK for a break at the end of August. That being so could you look at later in the month and then I can play with my Capri before taking it to Pembrey. (At least thats the plan).

Before you get too excited check out the cost

My bet is in the area of £ 10000

Maybe Rockingham will do an introductory offer !

Perfect for CSCC if its before mid October

As Pete said I think you'll find Mr Palmers place a little pricey.
It is a full track - in fact 3 I think, a friend of mine did the corporate day there and said it was great, I think they use it every day though.
Whatever you decide to do I would love to come along with the Haggispeed, no rides though I'm afraid - only room for one you see.

Bedford is looking to be a little on the expensive side, but I'm working on that - plus if there's going to be quite a few ppl there it might work out ok in the end. If I go for an approx. group figure of about 50-ish that should give us a few spare places?

I think Bedford can do half days as opposed to full days plus things like BBQ's and stuff as well. Sound ok?

If anyone wants me to check out the prices for other specific venues, let me know - rebecca.appleton@ten-tenths.com.

Les - my hotmail account should be working now, but the 10 Tenths one & press@cliosport.com are both definitley working anyway.

Seriously - as I said above if you're looking for comparisons or alternatives please try Rockingham as you'll surely get lots of CSCC keen to attend before their races on October 14 - I believe we're due to be on the combined course whatever that is - even without the banking it sounds like quite a place

I'll take a look at Rockingham Jos, but I can't really see it being any cheaper. Forgot to add that if it helps people any, Bedford do an evening hire session - 5.30 - 8.30pm.

Hi,

looking for a different venue ?

Well there is the Three Sisters Race Track in Wagan, Lancashire.
Ive been there a few times for various activities.
Anyway someone said the track can be hired out, and I'm sure they said it costs £1000 for a full day!

Its not a huge track, but hey they drive an F1 on there.

see www.aintree-racing-drivers-school.co.uk

if anyone makes enquiries, id be interested to find out what they say.

Woody.

I'll try them then Wooody. Tried Donington earlier, they don't have any days available till October. I'm waiting to hear back from Mallory, any other suggestions?

What about Llandow in south Wales or Wroughton near Swindon.. not circuits, but should be cheap(ish)..

Or go to one of the Castle Combe action days and pay 15 quid for 5 laps a time..

This topic has been allowed to die off, but I think it should now be reopened for consideration..

With the various racing seasons now drawing to a close in the UK, and things like the Snetterton Charidee day approaching - wouldn't this be a better time to organise a 10 Tenths circuit outing?

I would say though, that weekdays would be out of the question, unless we wanted only 5 people to turn up.. It almost has to be on at a weekend.. Also, Bedford Aerodrome is probably a little too expensive for our pockets and purses..

Might I direct some of you to the Racedays website ? There's a calendar of all the track days available in the coming months - some of them are on airfields which may be available for exclusive hire..

LLandow is also well worth considering.. It's Welsh, I know - but it's relatively easy to get to, unless you live in East Angular (sorry ) and it's bound to be cheap, considering THR's recent comments in the Racer's Forum..

Can someone who's better at organising things than me (anyone!) look into this perhaps?

What about Easytrack airfield days.. seem very good value - and mostly run at a venue near Swindon called Kemble... They now have arrive and drive days.. starting at 49 pounds for a half day. or £20 for 20 laps.

Something to consider - and even the Midget might attend after a major overhaul which is commencing next week...

Now Dan, I don't think the good people of Kemble want to be told they live near Swindon! It's not more than a few miles from Stonehouse, which is very definately Royal South Gloucestershire, not even close to the horrible modern monster that is Swindon.

However, I'd be in favour of Kemble because it's close to me!
