Is this guy for real? Maybe the v8's should be renamed - V8Supercars, brought to you by Jamie Whincup... Everything is about him, and if there is something that doesnt suit him look out!!
Jamie, just keep quiet and drive your car, no one cars what you think |

Going by the vitriol in this thread, I would say that it is the opposite, and a lot of posters really do care about what thoughts he writes.

How do the internationals go with helmets? Use their own? or borrow Aussie ones? Would think they'd have different connections for all the extras (water bottle, communications, ventilation that some of them run).

I wouldnt want to borrow someones sweaty helmet thats for sure. I'm sure they can afford to buy/be given new ones with the necessary bits. |

Keep in mind most drivers have more than one helmet. What i was asking, is if they use their own helmet from their country equiped with features to suit there races cars, and mod them to work with our cars, or just use an Aussie helmet.

it's definatly a very good and interesting question. it might be a good one to send off to a team like 888 who have international driver's.

Most of them if not all use their own helmets. The drink hose is usually only changing the plug on the hose or running another hose. The radios are fairly universal so not too many problems their either and same with the ventilation as I don't think any helmets are Aussie made. The helmets such as the ones made by Stand 21 have the plugs for the air that are all similar. So as long as the drivers are dedicated enough and the team organised it is nothing that can't be easily fixed at a trial run at the workshop and a test day or two. The big problem is when the egos kick in and Driver A wants to use his shifter and have the seat where he has it usually then driver B says he cant possibly drive with this set up. Then teams have been known to waste nearly whole practice sessions moving seats and changing where everything plugs in.
