Audi - ALMS/Bentley Le Mans Rumour
Just had a quick look on Dailysports.com and it is reported that a rumour going round the ALMS paddock at Mosport at the weekend was that Joest are going to run two Audi's in next years ALMS and paused mid-season to run two Bentleys at Le Mans, however they will be two new Bentleys - still LM GTPs, probably still looking like the 2002 (and 2001) model, but substantially new all the same.
Interseting, we will see what happens with this one, but if it is ture where does this live Apex, who have run the cars for the last two years or does this mean that we will get 4 Bentley's (2 from Joest , 2 from Apex) on the grid at Le Mans next year. I personally think a lot depends on what Audi's plans are for next year, I fell this story may run and run......... |

At least, 2003 grid should be quite different of the 2002 one !

Alot will depend on who actually enters the cars, If its Joest the you could find the German flag on the side of the car. While we all know Bentley is part of VAG, from a marketing point of view the Bentley MUST have the Union flag on it.
Roll on 2003...... Last edited by Nordic; 22 Aug 2002 at 12:50. |

Joest running the Bentley would clearly be good. They are a good team and it means Audi/VW are serious about the effort. But then I would quite like it to continue in the vain that it has been so far (although more of them would be nice!).

A complete British could have been better for the image... Joest sounds very "Porsche" for me...
But for the victory, it's a good card indeed... |

...and What will happen to Richard Lloyd Racing? are they out of the job? or We will see four Bentleys (2 from Joest , 2 from Apex)?? I hope so....
Sometime ago I hear That Mr.Taisan, purchased one of the 2001 Bentleys and wanted to race it at LM in 2002 but was not allowed by Bentley due to lack of parts and some other reasons. The story said that he hoped to purchase a(the) 2002 car to race in 2003 if possible, but there has been no further news anywhere. |
