Arakis, it's a question of whether the road car engine has the system or not. If it doesn't, neither should the race car. As for the Lola-Aston, it uses a production-based engine from the GT1 car, which is why this DI issue comes into play for them as well even though it's a prototype and not a GT.

Yes, I would imagine until the 458 is on the grid there will be no DI in a Ferrari GT on the grid! You reap what you sow.

Well the new 458 and California have DI, so it's not out of the question that Ferrari could throw DI on the 430 for it's final year before the 458 takes over in both road and racing versions. That being said, I doubt we'll see that happen.

But the 458 and California arent the Homologation models for the F430 so i dont see how that would make any difference?

I'm saying if they put the DI motor in the 430 for the final year of production, they could homologate it for the race car.

Well, it isn't sure that would fit!, Also, how many would buy a 430, when the new is coming 1 year after!, Ferrari need to produce a certain amount of DI 430's to get it homologated, and if they can't sell the 430, then there is no sense in it!

They could drop in the DI lump and badge it as the "Finale Edition" or something and people would buy the hell out of it.

Don't know know much about the technical aspect of DI, but isn't it pretty hard just "drop in the DI lump" in a engine which isn't build for it?

The California Spyder has the DI version of the 430's motor. I'm sure there's a bit more they've modified than just adding DI, but it's essentially the same motor.

DI will be back in the Chevettes at Sebring. This is DI removal is for the remainder of this season only.

Lump is the "technical term" for engine

Thats what I thought upon reading this page, I vaguely remember the last 430 being painted in silver with a gold stripe and being auctioned off for charity to help the victims of the earthquake in Italy. Production was supposed to end this year sometime, if it has actually finished now I do not know.

That makes more sense. They did the same thing with the first 599 in North America, they had it in the paddock at Laguna Seca in '06.

hmm, I just looked at the IMSA site and the entry list I see was updated on the 12th and doesn't include the VICI car

Also, the restrictor break that was initially given to the Judd 5.5 liter has been rescinded by IMSA.

That's crazy because I looked last night and it was there... today they are gone. So I guess they have entered and withdrawn already?

I sure hope they get their act together next year .

I thought the reason they were a late season entry was because the T-Mobile deal hadnt been done on time , and now they withdraw from PLM ..... exactly how long was the T-mobile deal for ?

Shame for Stuck & Westbrook .
