BTCC drivers aren't on the road that much - its not like F1 where you are travelling out on the Tue or Wed, then stay out between races at some locations. Most of the BTCC guys (drivers!) are travelling on Thu and are back home in their own bed Sunday night. Most of them still hold full time jobs away from racing. Taking 2 days off for 10 races is still only 20 days annual leave - there will be some testing on top and maybe some pre-season stuff at the team's facility but they don't do a lot more outside of that.

Yes, while BTCC isn't purely a weekend job, they still to do tests and sponsor events, plus trips to the factory, it isn't as gruelling as other motorsports. As you rightly point out, quite a few have day jobs too. Plus there's only 10 meetings a year, meaning it's not every weekend or every other weekend they are racing

Shedden was talking about how he'd drive his motorhome back home himself in his last season on a Monday, considering the distance for Snett, Thruxton, Brands etc. It's even a six hour drive from Donington if your house on wheels is doing seventy all the way.

What I meant was, with the family being well off (something to do with train manufacturing on the continent I was told) could they have the money themselves ready to go, but just want to take as much back into that as they can, or have they cash and he's been told you raise the sponsorship and that's your salary?

Then again, they might not be as well off, or ready to spend as we think. But that's my wondering.

I do these circuits every few weeks for British GT, from Edinburgh. Even Oulton Park is 5 hours with the traffic.

So there is a TOCA Junior driver announced.

The kid that was bullied in karting and everybody gave fantastic support to - apart from a few who suspected a parent marketing strategy was the real truth.

Whichever way you look at it, he was bloomin fast in a kart, but if he's on his own on the grid it won't matter.

Is that going up the left side of the country, or the A1?

Who is that? Deno Rowlands? He has just announced he will race in the TOCA Junior eSeries - the sim racing one, not the real thing

Interesting photo in this article with the SUV Toyotas Cross beside the Brazil Stock car racing version.

Really nice looking race car. Wonder how one would go around Knockhill?

In my case I'm on the east side of Edinburgh, but for Oulton Park I cut across the south of Scotland to the M74/M6 and come down the west side of the country. Knockhill area to Oulton, you'd definitely want the east coast motorways.

I do the same for Donington Park and Silverstone. For Croft, Brands, Snetterton and EuroTunnel trips I do the east side of the country.

The A1 Edinburgh to Newcastle is an awful road, but it's the only option for those, unfortunately.

I'm a Yorkshire lad near Darlington, so it's A1 all the time for me.

Maybe because the announcement was made in Oct 24, and has already featured in the ITV broadcast?

A74/M6 is better either via the M8 or Kincardine Bridge.

A1 North of Newcastle and Edinburgh Bypass can be a nightmare depending on the time of day.

A1 Friday night rush hour is evil North of Newcastle, but I enjoy the Saturday morning drive up for BTCC. Quite empty and relaxing at 5am with the sun rising. Coming back on a Sunday though. I get to the long stretches of single carriageway and usually get stuck behind a convoy of F4/Porsche lorries doing 50mph with no chance to overtake!
