I have no idea and no horse in this race but it seems to me that if he did want to do something else there could surely be no better opportunity, in terms of potentially plausible valid reasons, for pulling the venue as a racing circuit 'with regret'.

F1 and Historic forums only have rumours about Donington Hall being sold, which isn't part of the circuit or the estate.

As I have said elsewhere, Donington Hall is the HQ for BMI airline & has been nothing to do with Donington Park for many, many years. It is an Office block. Now, BMI are rumoured to be in trouble and potentially selling assets but even if its true its got nothing to do with the race circuit.

bmi may occupy the hall but do they actually own it? I have no idea so it really is just a question.

With their bmibaby move out of EMA and being now fully owned by Lufthansa there would seem to be little point in the place being retained either way.

If I was wearing my cynical hat, I'd say that going into administration is a useful way of avoiding Mr Ecclestone's lawyers over any breach of contract proceedings.
